Beautiful Castle on the ThamesPosted Sep 22, 2015
From the moment we stepped into the Oakley Court we felt at home. It was exactly what I had hoped it would be. My husband had arranged a private boat on the Thames and a hamper basket lunch for us which was all arranged by their staff. They had actually had forgotten about the hamper which by the time they had prepared it had cut into our 2 hour time. When they brought the basket to the boat the butler said not to worry that they had already contacted the boat company and our time would not be effected. Everyone at Oakely Court was so kind, and pleasant to deal with. I especially enjoyed sitting by the fireplace in the bar. There is some fun history about Oakely Court as well such as Rocky Horror Picture Show was filmed there not to mention several horror movies. I would definitely stay here again.

Mutton dressed up as lambPosted Sep 18, 2015
Pros: Location and grounds
Cons: The staff need a general refresher course in public relations. Business persons are not the only travelers in today's world.
Location: Hotel is convenient to Windsor Castle and other attractions.
Arriving at Oakley Court is quite awesome, with its long curved driveway, fancy stonework and magnificent location on the banks of the Thames. However, the experience at Reception was a long way from awesome! Reception staff gave the impression that they did not want to be there, and most certainly did not want to be bothered with checking-in the ordinary everyday traveler. I immediately regretted having booked here as a suitable locale to round off our tour of England. Okay, so there was some business convention being held at that time; however that does not mean that other paying guests are not entitled to the same standards of service. The only person at that time who appeared to exhibit anything approaching the standards I would expect - was the guy who helped us to our room with our luggage. It's a pity that I didn't manage to get his name because he deserves recognition for excellence. The experience at breakfast both mornings was equally upsetting; only being made bearable by a couple of older ladies who were both warm and friendly. The room was okay, but not what I expected from what was supposed to be a superior accommodation. I have stayed at both Premier Inns and Holiday Inns who have given both better service and higher standards of accommodation. The place can, at best, be described as 'shabby chic'; being in need of more consideration toward general upkeep and maintenance than proclaiming an image that it simply doesn't live up to. All in all, a disappointment.

Lovely situation on the ThamesPosted Aug 16, 2015
Pros: The outdoor dining area
I had expected a top rated room but don't think we got it. My husband had mobility issues but we were allocated a room at about the farthest point from reception. Not what we were expecting but it was OK for 2 nights.

Cons: could use a room safe
Location: Boat rides, windsor castle great place for day tripping to south/southwest of England if you have a car.
Beautiful setting on the banks of the Thames. Food reasonably priced and very helpful staff. This was my second stay will definitely use again. By the way I visit UK often to visit family. This is my Hotel of Choice for before departure back to US. like a mini vacation.

Overwhelmed by summer weddingsPosted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: The place itself is fun - and the set of some classic British movies.
Cons: Separating the large crowd, individual traveler experiences would be good.
It's a lovely place, set in big grounds bordering the Thames. The old house has been decorated with care, and the new wings - which are large - are well appointed, if a bit characterless. So you can see why folks choose it for big wedding parties, and I'm sure the big wedding parties with whom we were sharing the hotel had a lovely time, but those of us tucked around the edges, less so. So, if you see a large number of folks in full fashion-forward outfits, consider eating elsewhere...

Beautiful historic building and rooms. Loved it!Posted Jul 14, 2015
Location: Windsor Castle is close and Windsor Village is charming. Brae is close with The Fatted Duck. Make reservations in advance. 3 Pubs there as well.
It was a wonderful old castle looking hotel, on the river Thames. We rented an electric boat from the hotel to putt around in for an hour in the rain. Brought on some wine and snacks, was great fun. Staff was extremely pleasant. Public rooms were extremely beautiful. We played cards in a marvelous greenhouse room in the evening. We ate on the lawn under a tent that was heated, with open sides. An unforgettable experience. The shortbread cookies were great. The club sandwich amazing. Our room was huge and beautiful but hot and humid, but great views. They have fans to borrow. Other family members had cold rooms, so just be sure to ask for rooms with plentiful AC, if you are like my husband and I and like it cold. We would definitely go back. Breakfast was phenomenal, decor was awesome and you could not ask for a better menu. You will love the way they have it set up.

Englisches FlairPosted Jun 30, 2015
