A nice hotel next to the Thames River.Posted Sep 12, 2015
Pros: The food, wine and location.
Cons: Attention to detail. Room information package 5 years out of date. The room needed an upgrade to its facilities and carpeting.
Location: Beautiful location on the Thames River. Plenty of long walks, including the Ridgeway. Plenty of National Trust properties to visit.
Lovely room overlooking the river. Excellent food and drink. Service could be haphazard and set-up was not up to full standard. Physical condition of hotel/rooms needs some attention. Faded grandeur. Still, the location is beautiful!

Great hotel overlooking the ThamesPosted Aug 20, 2015
I was there while on business. The hotel was a quiet recluse from the frenetic nature of business. Outstanding

DisappointingPosted Aug 15, 2015
Receptionist did not greet us on arrival instead asked if weeould like to pay for the room now oron check out. We told her we booked through expedia and already did so. GREAT WELCOME HUH !?! Room very old looking, outdated and not in the 21st century sirry to say. Only great positive was the quality if the breakfast. Very tasty but service by waiter and waitress was appalling. No people skills.

Reasonable pricePosted Aug 9, 2015
The price was cheaper than I have stayed at similar grade hotel. The reason is probably due to my room location; car park view. The room was clean.

Nice FREE MOORING for my boat outside hotelPosted Aug 4, 2015
Pros: Location, location, location. Decor in room. Comfy bed. Good shower room Feature Bath Patio Doors to garden with private seating area
Cons: Visible presence of an experienced, mature English or at least Anglicised person as Maitre' D or General Manager. To provide a quality meet and greet.
Location: Great location alongside the world famous Royal River Thames, close to the weir & lock, plenty happening and to be seen. The Thames Path is alongside.
Only one English member of staff to be seen during our two day stay. Language difficulties are not what I expect to suffer unless I am travelling overseas, likewise their idea of quality of service and my own differ. Perhaps it is just the language barrier but the staff often came across as cold, uncaring, short on pleasantries verging on impolite and on a couple of occasions it felt like it was sheer rudeness. That said, I found the facilities and the general ambience of the hotel and its location to be very pleasing. The Spa was great but the drain in the steam room was in need of attention, whilst the Jacuzi was closed on a permanent basis all waiting a complete refurb apparently. The room was modern and very clean, the patio doors open onto the picturesque quintessentially English country garden were a delight (room 32 ground floor). Meanwhile the bath was set on a raised plinth actually within the bedroom area was a surprise and a pleasure too! Additionally, the separate ensure shower room was very large and the toilet and wash basin were complimented with plenty of towels. Very clean, bright and warm with plenty of top quality touches including a coffe making machine in the room. Overall, the hotel was really good, we enjoyed our stay and are already looking at our diaries to see when we can return!

Lovely restaurant and food. Disgraceful RoomPosted Jun 7, 2015 on Hotels
It was a big shame as this could have been a perfect stay if the room condition was mirrored by the lovely setting and decor as the bar and restaurant. My room had a lovely view and the bed was very comfy but the condition was terrible. Stained wallpaper that was starting to fall away from the wall and the decor was like visiting my Grans house. Very out of date with a musty and damp odur. When checking out in the morning, the man on reception didn't even have the decency to end his conversation on the phone and engage in conversation with me whilst I was paying my bill. Very poor service and accommodation that is well overdue a lick of paint and a squirt of fabreeze.

Delightful hotelPosted May 30, 2015 on Hotels
The hotel is very well appointed and set in a beautiful location on the Thames. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded on arrival to a lovely room with a balcony and a river view. We would certainly visit again

Riverside retreatPosted May 29, 2015 on Hotels
Great location, great food and great service. Rooms very comfortable, but bathrooms and woodwork need to be brought up-to-date to really make this a great hotel. Still a great place to stay though.
