Excellent room and great location

I really like this hotel, especially the room (I had a junior suite, so lots of space, closet storage, nice bathroom areas). I love the hotel cat, the garden area, and general vibe of the place. It's in a great location--close to things but on a quiet street. I would have given this place a 5 except for 2 things: 1- there were renovations going on so some amount of noise and 2 - the thick curtains to my windows were broken so you could not open them. The one staff person said they would fix it, but did not. Another blamed it on a previous guest, which I don't really buy--I think they were renovating and simply put curtains up without attaching the opening mechanisms (these were ones that are pulled up, not the kind that move to the side and the pulley mechanisms, as well as the lines that attach to the curtains were simply missing). Finally, the day before I left, a person from the desk did come to the room with a ladder and tried to tie up least 2 of the curtains with pieces of string with some success, so I give him kudos for trying and he did his best to make it up to me. But I found that to be very strange and basically didn't have windows that were unoccluded during my stay (so no natural light). Again, might just be because of the timing of my stay and heir renovations, but I found it hard to believe they would not take care of that before allowing a guest to stay in the room.
