Imaginatively modern

Posted Jan 19, 2017
Pros: Its beautiful simplicity.
Cons: Leave the curtains partly open; I didn't find the radiator on a cold evening until the next morning when I swept back the curtain.
Location: I chose the hotel because it's near the Hertie School of Governance, where I had come to give a talk. Plenty to do and see in the near vicinity.
White, grey, and lime-green, with splashes of orange-red in the furniture, the décor of this hotel beautifully integrates everything to the smallest detail. Enter your room, and nothing is as you expect, but in the nicest possible way, from clever hangers on the wall for your coat, to no separate clothes closet but fixed hangers under a pleasing open plywood shelf sculpture, to an efficient bathroom and pleasing shower. Where are the light switches? They aren't the icons on the wall behind and above the bed, they are under the overhang, which illuminates up and down--your choice. Power points there, too. If it's cold, be sure to open the curtains, which reveals the adjustable radiator. Just exploring the room is enjoyable as you marvel at the ingenuity of the architects in creating a hotel room that is out-of-the-ordinary, beautiful and entirely functional.

Pros: I had a horrible experience - I found them aggressive, not apologetic and my stay was ruined by the cleaner throwing away my stuff.
Cons: I wish Expedia would have a customer service helpline - I felt so alone. I rated the check in automatic email as bad and explained what was happening
Location: Find another hotel
I discovered that my toiletry bag with shampoo and deep conditioning mask had disappeared from my room. It was already 11pm when I went to shower and I went down to report it to the front lobby and the girl wanted to help but said they had a full room of things from people's room but that she did not have the key. The next morning the woman on the front desk said that she had checked and my items were not there. She then said she had asked the cleaner and it was "my word against his". I met a cleaner and asked him if he knew where my shampoo and conditioner were, and he was very aggressive. No one tried to help and we were constantly told the management were not available till Monday. Most of all I disliked being implied that I was lying. Why would I make up a story about loosing a shampoo and conditioner? On the day we needed to check out, I did not even have a bag in which to place my other toiletries, and generally the attitude of the hotel was so unpleasant it ruined the trip. The staff in the bar had been very nice but the front desk staff were very unpleasant and when I asked if customer service and making us feel cared for was important, she said she preferred not to answer. They completely refused to say that it was possible my shampoo and conditioner had been thrown away by mistake by the cleaner. We are all human... just admit it. And solve the problem caused to the guests

Cosy and quirky room close to subway

Posted Dec 17, 2016
Location was good- close to the subway, Checkpoint Charlie was just round the corner and walkable to Potsdamer Platz where the Xmas market was. Only downside was the bed wasn't too comfortable, and the walls were thin, could hear people in the next room talking and the slightest knocks against the walls they made. I kept waking up. If u stay here, it would be good to bring earplugs.

Comfort and location

Posted Dec 15, 2016
Pros: everything
Location: Close to Check point Charlie but only an easy 15 minute walk to other attractions such as the Brandenburg Gate
Staff were great Room was very clean and comfortable, the shower was one of the best in our many months of travel, nice toiletries too. Breakfast had lots of choices, all good quality and tasty. Location was perfect to see most of the important sights Loved the attached Vietnamese restaurant too, good food and value for money

Nice hotel close to everything.

Love the concept of the hotel. The breakfast is great. I literally walk to all main monuments. Mall of Berlin is two blocks and a train station just one block. Two great restaurants at each side of the hotel. Definitely stay again.

Decent place to stay in a quiet location

Posted Oct 24, 2016
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, decent breakfast selection
Cons: A closet for clothes and better placed mirrors would be nice to have in the room, and a more comfortable table for work
Location: Was well located for my meetings, while I didn't have time to explore the nearby area

Hotel right next to Checkpoint Charlie

Posted Sep 29, 2016
Hotel is easily reached by U-Bahn. It's right near Checkpoint Charlie. Area felt safe. Walking distance to many attractions and sites- others are easily reached by s-bahn and u-bahn. Room was basic, but clean and bed made daily. Good shower. Staff somewhat helpful.

Good central hotel if weather is not hot

Posted Sep 5, 2016
Pros: Location, Staff
Cons: Rooms need a fan or aircon in the summer, unusable without.
Great hotel with large-ish basic rooms. There's hanging space, a desk, a separate bathroom with a good shower. No fridge, no drinks-making. Hotel has a bar & breakfast room (extra cost) and there's a good asian-fusion restaurant in the lobby. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would use again, as long as the weather was not hot as the room was stiflingly hot, had no A/C and opening the window did not help.
