Nice enough, but nothing special

I found Hotel Newberlin to be have a bigger difference between web presentation and reality than most hotelsI've used in Berlin. It looked very attractive when researching online, but when I arrived I was i little disappointed.
My room was in the annex and totally different from the online pictures. It was rustic at best, dated and worn at worst. The view from the windows were into a condemned building 10 meters away. Online the rooms are modern and light, mine was dark and "retro".
I didn't necessarily appreciate having to walk across a large courtyard to get between my room and the reception, restaurant and wellness area. Those living in the main building had to make the same trip outside to get breakfast. How nice this is depends on the weather I guess.
I met one very friendly receptionist who checked me in and followed me to the annex. She even helped with the luggage. The rest of the receptionists looked bored out of their minds and wandered around.
The restaurant was good, though, and the waitress very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good too, but nothing exceptional.
I used the wellness area / spa one evening. It was smaller and more plain than the pictures led me to believe. I had the place to myself at the time. The sauna was small, but worked well after I had figured out the self-service control panel. I guess it's good to be able to set it to my own preferences.
