This was a great hotel in the heart of Old Town Bern. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was charming. If we return to Bern, we would stay at this same location.

This was a unique spot. The hotel is small but has put a great deal of effort into making it look quaint and interesting. It is right on the main street of the old town and the area is easily walkable.

Spent a few days exploring this part of Switzerland, this is a nice hotel on the edge of town. Older hotel so the rooms are a nice size. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The only comment I have is that a few more plug sockets would help!

Our room was at the top of a long flight of stairs after the elevator ended and there was no one to assist us with our bags. Upon entering the room we could not turn on the lights. After the one staff person on duty investigated it turned out that a breaker had been tripped, and had to be reset. All seemed fine. However, when we returned to the room in the evening the electricity was out again. This meant the power to the room could have gone out at any time, and the hotel management and staff leave overnight! We could not stay in the room. The person on duty was not very helpful in finding us a new accommodation, and Hotel Belle Epoque did not offer to compensate us the difference in cost between a long reserved room and a same day reservation at a different hotel. While we waited for a taxi another guest told us their room had no air-conditioning (when it was 36C out!) and that they had "had a rough night". The property misrepresents itself, the staff are inexperienced, and the establishment overcharges for the services it provides. It is straining to be a two-star hotel, and it strains credulity to think that any travelers would pay the money this establishment charges for the poor services it provides. Avoid it if you can!

Dear MichaelWe are sorry to hear you had such a bad experience in our hotel. While our hotel has a lift, due to the nature of such an old building (built in the 16th century), there are two rooms which are reached by climbing a few stairs. We never assign these room to guests requesting rooms without stairs and our team are always happy to help guests with their luggage on request. We have not experienced any issues with any fuses either in the rooms you were staying in nor any other either before or after the day you were due to stay. Our team does leave overnight and we do not communicate anywhere that we have a 24-hour reception, although we do have 24-hour phone assistance for questions or emergencies. Similarly, we do not advertise on any platform that we have air conditioning and could unfortunately do little about the extremely hot temperatures we experienced this summer. We provide fans in every rooms. All members of our team would have been happy to provide assistance, but we are sorry to hear you were dissatisfied with the help given. We hope you were happy with the alternative accommodation that you found.

Short stay in Beautiful Bern
This hotel was very clean and located in an incredibly safe area. There were pastry shops and restaurants all very close. I would book here again for sure and hated to leave!

If you're not staying here during your holiday stay in Bern, you're not doing yourself any favors! This place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Quaint, vintage art nouveau vibes complement the beautiful setting in Bern's historic old town. The hotel was gorgeously ornamented for the holiday season, clean and tidy, the staff was homey and friendly. Our stay couldn't have been better!

Great location at a reasonable price. Street noise was much louder than expected, and without AC on warm days and evenings, the windows need to be open. We liked using the free transport pass we received from the hotel to get to all parts of the city quickly.

This was an excellent hotel and stay. Anna at the front desk was wonderful and gave us ideas for where we could visit, a few coupons, and made our stay most enjoyable. We will return!

No aircon and no street view!
No air conditioning was a bit of an issue as we stayed here on an extremely hot summers night. We were also disappointed that in a hotel with lovely room views over the street, we were greeted by a brick wall at the back of the hotel. The hotel charges the same price for both views! We had requested a street view but this wasn’t granted.

Old Town Bern
The hotel is old, which is part of its charm, and is clean and well maintained. There is no air conditioning, and unfortunately I was there in the middle of a heat wave, but I assume they don’t normally need air conditioning in Bern. I don’t hold this against the hotel as I’m sure most hotels there don’t have air conditioning. The location was great and the staff was very friendly.

Don't trust them, i recommend you go and book a real hotel but don't go with this company. They keep charging you for no reason and you end up with €200 per night.when you trying to book it comes up with $136 per night and parking is included but its not. They send you somewhere else to park and you have to pay for parking by yourself. Also you can't find their apartment at all because their direction is not clear.

This is a small (17 rooms) hotel located in the heart of the Old City. The room was comfortable, attractive and well kept; but no AC that I noticed (didn’t need it in April). The staff was helpful with all our needs; and unflaggingly cheerful.

One night in Bern - on Swiss National Day
The receptionist (presumably the manager or the owner?) was a great guy! Extremely friendly and treated us well. Actually all the receptionists were good. Location is great but a bit of walking from the main station - a bit difficult to walk if you carry large luggages with you. Anyhow, I will choose the same hotel again if I visit Bern in the future.

Our stay was fine, but the room was pretty warm. Given climate change, the management should consider air conditioning in future. We were on a busy street, but the sound did not disturb us, which we appreciated!

Great location. Tiny hotel (tiny lobby etc) but worth it if you want to be near historic area of Bern. Rooms were too hot but windows open so that was easy to deal with (no A/C so might be problematic for hot summers). Beds were a little on the hard side. Great having an elevator for luggage for rooms on upper floors. Lots of restaurants close by,

The hotel had a great location. It definitely feels old though. The room was comfortable but it also felt like it had seen better days. The hotel also wasn't particularly accommodating about early check ins or late check outs. That's understandable, but there was really no flexibility. The staff were friendly.

AN IDEAL LOCATION FOT EXPLORING BERN
A quaint hotel with very pleasant staff , some interesting decoration, paintings and furniture from La Belle Epoque and a reasonable breakfast. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring Bern. The famous Bear garden is just across the bridge and the Cathedral is 15 minutes walk. The room was basically furnished and lacked coffee facilities. Also the shower arrangement was pretty primitive.

Beautiful throwback to a slower-paced time
The hotel lives up to its name. From the gorgeous old wooden bar to its old-fashioned elevator, everything about this hotel wants to bring you back to "La Belle Epoque" The location is perfect; the famous clock in the center of town is less than five minutes' walk from the hotel, and even a person with a severely arthritic knee can get to any of the town's sites and cafes within fifteen minutes of walking. A very accommodating staff, an incredibly comfortable bed, a bartender who made some great Mojitos on a blisteringly hot day, and an easily-accessible parking garage one block away all combined to make this our favorite hotel during my stay in Switzerland.

This hotel offers a lot of personality; but the rooms are very small, need to be up-dated, are not well-ventilated, and are not comfortable. The bathrooms are well equipped, but again they are very small. The best thing about Belle Epoque is its fantastic location.

Eclectic hotel in great location.
We stayed in Bern in September 2016. This hotel is decorated in the Belle Epoque style which makes it very individual and rather fun. Three good restaurants are located directly outside. It is very close to the Bear Park and the River. Lots of eclectic and interesting shops are located all along the street outside and just about everywhere else in Old town Bern. Our room was comfortable although the beds and in particular the pillows were too soft for us. Wasn't a problem for only 2 nights. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth considering if you are going to Bern. We would stay again.

Classic style and pleasant staff. Comfortable room that had a fan which was wonderful to have with the summer heat. A bit noisy at night because of people and early morning with work vehicles on the cobblestone.

Attractively retro
Nicely appointed with a belle époque (roughly 1890s Paris) theme, well-run and ideally located. Comparable in price to good boutique hotels we stayed in elsewhere in Switzerland, but because of the lack of a free breakfast and minibar, slightly less value.

Decent hotel in convenient old town location.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, but a bit dated. The bathroom was small and not luxurious at all. That is what I would expect for the price and location, so it was not disappointing. If you want a safe, clean, conveniently located hotel... this is it.

We liked the hotel; it has a lot of character, with all those Art Nouveau features. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially the wait staff in the restaurant. The location--right across from the bus stop--was fine. We arrived in an early heat wave and there is no AC but there was a pretty effective fan. Our room looked out on the street and granted the weather, that was bad luck. Naturally we had the windows open and drunken guys from the many groom and bride parties made a lot of noise. So, at least in summer, I would suggest asking for a room either not on the street or higher up. Otherwise, a fine place.

Buyer Beware!
I stayed here for one night on my honeymoon. Aside from location, I could not be more dissatisfied. The pictures and website are VERY DECEIVING. Perhaps they have one or two nice rooms, but I did NOT receive one. I felt like I was in a cheap motel, not the cute, artsy hotel they make themselves out to be. When I arrived at the hotel, there was a long line, so my husband and I had a drink at the bar while we waited for it to subside. Our mistake, as more people added to the line. By the time the line ended, we checked in and was handed a key by a very curt front desk person. I think it was THE LAST ROOM available - they didn't see me to care that I had booked this more than 8 MONTHS AGO and indicated preference for high up, quiet room due to it being my honemyoon. Seemd first come first serve for room number.. SO, I got a 1st floor (i.e. 2nd floor) room immediately above the bar. NO A/C means having to keep your windows open all day...with a BAR going loud until the wee hours. And, when I walked into my room - I didn't know how to open the windows because there were METAL PLATES over the windows. When I went to complain, my favorite front desk person acted like I was a huge bother to him to explain how to open the windows; and acted insulted when I asked for another room. Unconfortable bed; hairs in washcloth; cheap plastic chairs.
