NICE HOTEL

Pros: nice traditional Hotel, but with all the modern comfort and looks inside. In reconstruction by early November- it will surely be much better ( and I loved what I saw).
Cons: everything nice- maintenance is good and necessary. But why not let guests know in advance. Just a heads-up! Drilling woke me up way too early
Location: Near everything relevant in the lovely Bern. The Hotel includes a coupon for public transportation for the duration of your stay- very nice.

Pros: Excellent central location, friendly & helpful staff, especially on reception. Clean, quiet room (I was at the back of the hotel)
Cons: Furniture on the roof terrace.
Location: Everything in the old town is a few minutes walk away, as is the station.
There was work going on in the hotel, but this didn't affect my stay. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast excellent. The staff were very friendly & helpful.

Convenient hotel with courteous and helpful staff

Pros: The location was great, and the room was perfect for our needs.
Location: The hotel is only a few blocks from the train station, and as Bern is a completely walkable city, it is near to everything in the heart of the city.
We found this hotel convenient to both the train station and everywhere we needed to go in Bern. The staff was accommodating and friendly, and the included breakfast was good. The included transport pass (as in other Swiss cities) was very nice to have in order to visit the Paul Klee museum.

Great location but...

As you can see below the hotel is under construction they start work at around 7 am.... so between that and the deliveries to the Coop an Megros throughout the night or the loud partiers there wasn't much sleep to be had. the linens on the bed were so old and worn that you could read the brand of mattress clearly through the bed sheet. For your comfort it appears they placed a pee pad in the middle of the bed... or maybe that was just an extra square of fabric. The furniture in the room feels like that of a college door room. There is also a soap dispenser on the wall of the shower (think soap dispenser in a public bathroom) and no other toiletries provided. The location of this hotel can't be beat though. It's about a 10 min walk to the main train station and a 10 to 15 min walk through the rest of old town.

Pros: temporary deposit of luggages in refundable lockers before check-in time
Cons: toilet cleanliness and hot water
Location: location was a little walk from the train station
toilet has a smell and we had trouble sleeping for the night. environment wise, looks below average. coffee and tea station was shared, would be better if there is ready-boiled water. breakfast was ok.

Under construction, so dusty and workers around. Street noise till late at night, so ask for back room for comfortable night. Very friendly , English speaking staff. I was unable to get to roof top terrace. Close to train station and open markets are next to hotel.

City centre hotel

Location: Hotel is right on the edge of the medieval city center of Bern. Large squares, lots of cafes and shopping streets.
The hotel is in a corner block of Zeughausgasse and Waisenhausplatz. I travelled to Bern by train, the railway station is a short walk. The river, cathedral and parliament buildings are short walks. I was travelling alone and booked a single room, which was small but fine for a short stay. The room facilities were all OK, it was clean but not luxurious. I had a street facing room, there was street noise, but it's a city. Breakfast was good in the bright restaurant on the first floor. The staff were helpful and efficient. I would stay again.

One night stay

Pros: Area of town, easy walking to check out Old town
Cons: the beds
Location: Beautiful Old Town area, shopping, museums, restaurants all easy walking distance
Quiet room except for whoever was talking outside at 4am; small-ish room for 3 people; great location; only issue was with breakfast staff, had to go find them to ask for coffee, but this was addressed by management so hopefully not an issue anymore. Typical uncomfortable European beds.
