Hard to beat these people!

We had a wonderful experience in Lauterbrunnen. It started with a heartfelt greeting by Daniella - who graciously answered all of our questions and made suggestions about activities, etc. When you walked in the door of this hotel, they genuinely wanted to know how your day had gone. The main floor includes a 'picnic room' where you can prepare your own meals (dishes and microwave), as well as store food in a small fridge and freezer. a lounge with chess boards, piano, and large TV, the breakfast room, another large room which included all day coffee and tea as well as a children's play area. The room was comfy- but the staff here really made this place tick. At the included breakfast, Maria would stop her preparation work and was sure to drop by your table and ask about your plans and offer suggestions for activities. And I overheard Angie (the manager) gently chatting with staff about the customers - what a great way to send the message. Lauterbrunnen is an incredible place to visit - and Hotel Staubbach is a great place to stay while you're there!

Nice, not very expensive hotel

Pros: the 24/7 free, unlimited coffee/tea lounge
Cons: the hot/co;d water in the sink in the room
Location: On main street. A few blocks from the train station
Very pleasant, though basic. The 24/7 coffee/tea lounge was very enjoyable. The hot/cold water in the room was problematic. Otherwise great and helpful staff.

My review would follow those I read prior to booking. Everything about this hotel is great except the walls aren't as soundproof as you'd like. The view of the fals is perfect, the breakfast is great, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Just hope your room doesn't back up to noisy patrons.

All we could have asked for!

Friends had stayed in this hotel and recommended it to us and we are glad they did. We loved this little hotel! The entire staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. When my husband had a dental emergency Frank at the front desk made the arrangements to see a local dentist and Maria was in the dining room during the breakfast hours to answer any questions and give suggestions about activities. In fact, breakfast always took longer than we anticipated because it was such a friendly atmosphere that guests lingered and chatted. The location is great - right in the middle of Lauderbrunnnen. Our room was bright and cheerful with wonderful views. The breakfast that was included was very nice, WIFI is free in the rooms, and parking is free and convenient. There was a church bell nearby that tolled the hour that might be a problem for a light sleeper with the windows open but it didn't bother us.
