Awful
Hotel from hell. Fausty smell, stained carpets, damp walls electric point not secured to wall correctly. General state of poor housekeeping.

Good for a quick one nighter?!
Although in a cracking location, I felt the place was worn around the edges and really let down by no Reception or staff to greet you. I found it hard to locate my room and just didn't feel comfortable that there were no staff around. Room was tiny but clean and exceptionally quiet. No real security on the room door which concerned me. Also, where's the pool?! If you want cheap and cheerful and are happy getting on with it yourself, this is the place for you. For me I need a little more onsite I think

Lovely Manor house with some shortcomings
We arrived in the evening and had to text for someone to let us in as there is no reception. Our room was nice but unfortunately there was no hot water. There was only a couple of other guests and no one overseeing the house actually present. There is a communal kitchen with tea/coffee and toasters. There is no breakfast included but you could take some food with you. We did not know this so were hungry. Hot water and food would have made it a pleasant experience but overall it felt a bit strange like we had arrived in an Agatha Christie novel!!

Keep an open mind.
Such an unusual property. Not necessarily what we'd expected some might say in need of some TLC- but we think that could spoil it. Shame the pool was out of action. The relaxed feel to the house & grounds was fab so it was such an experience. We really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely surroundings, great for exercising the dogs
Arrived late, but the housekeeper came and met us, was very helpful, showed us around, couldn't have been nicer. The shower in one of the rooms would not heat up but apart from that it was fine, a beautiful setting with plenty of scope for our dogs, that were not allowed in the house and slept in our vehicle, but the grounds more than made up for that, with plenty of room to give them a good run out that evening and the morning, a warning about the big ditch would have been helpful, we would stay there again

Beautiful setting- big let down!
Very confusing self service check in- thank goodness bumped into member of staff on her way home! Booked hotel for swimming pool- unfortunately out of bounds for guests! Had to remake my bed- bottom sheet not put on, no mattress protector, duvet cover not done up and only partly thrown on duvet. Had to hunt house to find complementary sachet of UHT milk for cuppa in morning. Setting beautiful- shame standards of service don't match!

Not a functioning hotel..
Main hotel was closed. I had visions of the nice rooms with open fireplaces a bar and a nice restraunt in a big manor house...Nothing like it...The main hotel was closed. I was shown to what looked like staff quarters when I had booked an executive room. I was the only guest in what was like a haunted hotel on a hill in the middle of nowhere. Checked out 10 mins later and booked into another hotel. I recon there are better facilities in youth hostel @ £12 a night.
