Great location

Very nice staff, easy to deal with. It was a slow period for the town and they offered us a free upgrade.

Black Forest Lodge

Posted Jan 17, 2018
Pros: Its convenient location to the areas we wanted to see while visiting Big Bear.
Cons: Room carpeting, it is dated and a shaggy blue (at least the room we stayed in), but we knew this before we made our reservation.
Location: Close to "The Village" shop and restaurant area. Near to the marina and to the ski attractions (Summit and Bear Mountain Resorts).
The lodge is located close to "The Village" area and to Summit Mountain. It is just a few miles away from Bear Mountain, so therefore location is very convenient. The staff was friendly and when we asked recommendations regarding where to eat, they provided honest and valuable information. The room was comfortable and the lodge area was calm, both during the morning and evening.

Price and location are strong

Posted Jan 4, 2018
Pros: See above
Cons: Mattresses linens and pillows could be upgraded, though they are workable.
Location: Big Bear's Snow Summit. Grizzly Café. Big Bear Village.
We had a fun stay while my college age kids snowboarded at Big Bear. The lodge is located in a great and easy location to everything and it's even on the best side of the street you need for the very busy main road. Most importantly walking distance to the village which is a nightmare to drive through and park. This alone is almost worth the price. Laundry facilities very close by. The amazing Grizzly Café very close by. Parking is easy and safe. The staff is friendly. The rooms are decent. The fireplaces are fun and a great touch. So, you are essentially paying a good rate for a decent room and a great location.

We booked a studio for Christmas break. When we arrive they gave us a tiny room with a bad matress. We went back to ask about it and apparently they didn't take out reservation properly and we couldn't get the studio before the next day. We had to move e all our stuff the day after and missed a full morning of ski. we begged for a compensation and got 40 dollars. We did call them before booking to make sure about the studio and they told us that it was sure it will be a studio if we book it. I wouldnt go back for sure! And I wish that there would be a way to get a compensation from Expedia

hoping for a white xmas

Posted Dec 24, 2017
We came in on a thursday afternoon hoping for some snow. Hotel was nice, but not close enough to downtown to walk in the cold. Room was cozy, and fireplace a plus. We enjoyed a relaxing night.

Better than the pictures

Posted Dec 22, 2017
I was trying to decide where to stay, so I asked my wife sixty five dollars a night and maybe we bring our own bedding or twice that for a night at the Best Western? She said "the cheaper one", so we stayed here. I forgot the sheets. The place was surprisingly clean and has a nice mountain aesthetic. Both me and my wife were happy with the choice, the only down side being that the outdoor spa was closed. We will definitely be back.

Great Location

Posted Dec 3, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: It's an older place, updates to the rooms would be a big enhancement to the hotel.
Location: Denny's and Taco Bell are across the street.
I stayed in a room on the 2nd floor. The room was dated, but clean and it served me well for my 3-night stay. It had a mini kitchen with a large refrigerator. The bed was just okay. The place has lots of parking and the room had good WIFI and a nice TV. As stated in the Expedia room description there is "limited housekeeping", and they did restock the towels and toilet paper. Overall I had a great stay. Again, I stayed in a room on the 2nd floor...I did not stay in a cabin.

It was good, but expected more from other lodges and cabins I've stayed at nearby.

Stayed here for 2 nights when I went to participate in an athletic event there. The room was very clean and comfortable with a real fire place. Quite roomy which was good. The only disappointment was that there is no fridge in the room. Otherwise, very pleasant stay.

you could always request a room with fridge in this case you got one with no fridge.

Charming and close to Village

Posted Oct 30, 2017
Pros: Jacuzzi tub
Cons: Coffee maker but no coffee in room; very limited amenities, no kleenex,
Location: Walking to The Village and several different restaurants.
Nice place, somewhat dated but cozy and clean. Jacuzzi room was very nice. Quiet location easy to walk to many places including the Village.
