Don't Stay Here!
Posted Oct 7, 2016
We planned a stay here with our elderly friend who wanted to cross Yellowstone off his bucket list. Unfortunately, the day we were to check in our friend died while visiting Yellowstone. I contacted Expedia to cancel our friends room reservation for this hotel and all other hotels in which we planned to stay for the remainder of our trip. Expedia Customer Support was excellent and cancelled all of our reservations but said that Mark, the manager at the Stagecoach Inn, would not authorize us cancelling our friend's room because it was "the day of check in." We asked if he was made aware of the circumstances, and were told yes, he knew a friend in our group had passed away only a few hours ago. We couldnt believe anyone would be that business oriented and asked to see the manager. When asked he said "It's the day of, I can't refund the room, and after a brief back and forth I said "I don't care about the money" to which he said "I don't care either" referring to our situation. I told him that was a terrible way to treat people. Talking to the local shop owners around town about our experience they said that was typical about the manager. The whole town knows how he treats people , so hopefully this review helps others in making their decision.
I want to be objective and I will say that the rest of the staff was friendly and efficient, but it is hard to look past the manager's calous comments and insensitivity.
