The hotel has a wonderful view of the river. Very quiet and relaxing. Close to train station. Lots of choices for restaurants. Highly recommended.

Lovely smart hotel, friendly staff. Air con in rooms was effective. Beautiful view over the river and the bridge. Great place to stay with beaches and Bilbao city centre easily accessible by Metro and plenty of cafes and bars really close to the hotel

Exceptional and beautiful hotel
We are hiking the Camino del Norte. The location was perfect for the Camino but would be well worth staying at as a destination itself. The location and hotel are stunning. Just beautiful. Staff at front desk, restaurant and bar could not have been more gracious, competent and professional. This is a lovely and special hotel.

One of the most amazing places I’ve stayed. Try to book the river view is totally worth it. The city view not so much. On weekends you may hear people on their normal routines which is quite interesting. Wear ear plugs if light sleeper. LOVED IT!

Characterful beautiful hotel next to the river
Wonderful historic hotel in a great location. Spotlessly clean hotel. Rooms modern, spacious, well kept and beds so comfortable. Reception staff professional and friendly. I would not recommend the breakfast as very repetitive if staying more than 2 days - only choice was what you wanted on your toast and drink. Evening bar staff rude so only used once but plenty of amazing bars and restaurants in the area. Would stay again and highly recommend the hotel.

Very good hotel. Excellent service from check in and during the breakfast (the breakfast was also very good) hotel is right by the amazing UNESCO bridge. Room was very good too. All amenities we needed.

Very Good Hotel
Really enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful location right beside the Puente Colgante. Staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Underground stop is about 10 minutes up the hill but there is an escalator to bring you up the steep section. We had a river view which was really nice. Food was excellent. The stay included breakfast which was very nice. Overall this is a really good hotel and one that I will return to when next I visit Bilbao.

Great hotel in a fantastic location! Amazing river & bridge views. Hotel very clean & good Covid measures in place. Staff very friendly and helpful Secure underground Parking for 16euros, ideal if using hotel as a stop over for the ferry

OK stay but not a shining review.
We were hoping for a superior double room, which it was but the beds were made separately like a twin. We checked in late after a long drive and although the after-hours concierge was friendly, he couldn’t really help much by getting us a room we wanted, apparently because we had booked via a 3rd party. He showed us another room with a smaller double bed which was in the other side of the hotel (no river view) but said we wouldn’t get a discount if we chose to stay in that room. So we opted for the larger room with separate beds.

Nice location on the waterfront
If you stay at this hotel, pay the extra to have a room with a river view because Portugalete outside of the waterfront is not that beautiful or inviting. The waterfront area though is magnificent. Nice room but small (not much room for luggage). We had twin beds put together but mattresses were quite comfortable. Nice shower but its design makes it splash everywhere else in the bathroom. Parking is free on the street by the hotel but it's difficult to find one. The breakfast was AWFUL and cold and definitely not worth the additional price. While I understand that COVID-19 precautions are necessary, there are plenty of hotels currently serving great breakfast elsewhere in Spain while following great COVID-19 protocole. Train station nearby the hotel to bring you to Bilbao. We stayed there because we had a Christening to attend across the river.

Great stopover for ferry.
Just an overnight stop before early ferry next day. Staff were friendly and our accommodation was very clean and spacious. (Love the Spanish hotels without those horrible carpets we get in uk.) Room had a view over the river, the bridge ferry and promenade. Just a 15 minute drive to ferry next morning. Very interesting stay. Didn’t have the breakfast as thought expensive, as was the overnight parking at €16 but very secure. Would definitely visit again and recommend

The Hotel is beautiful and the location fantastic. Only 10 mins drive to the ferry port. Rooms were lovely and the walk along the waterfront was great. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. The restaurant was great value for money I do not have a bad thing to say.

The location was brilliant - close to shops, the seaside and easy bus or Metro access to Bilbao. The room was large enough, with a balcony overlooking the river and transporter bridge. Staff were excellent, friendly & helpful. We were on a half board but there was only 2 choices each day for evening meals although the food was good. We would have liked tea & coffee making facilities in the room. We have stayed before and this is now our favoured hotel in the area.
