Nice place to stay in old town Bilbao.Posted Oct 20, 2013
Pros: The proprietor was very sincere!!
Location: We were there only overnight but were able to walk to the Guggenheim and get a good perspective on the city. It was Sunday, so many things were close
This pension is in old town and very easy to find. The proprietor emailed us ahead of time with specific directions. The room was basic, but nice, and comfortable (though oddly decorated). I didn't have time to find out if this building had a history based on the decor we saw. The bathroom was older, but everything worked well. The tv didn't work, and wifi was sporadic, but that wasn't a big problem for us. Breakfast is served in a lovely little dining area. Our only complaint was construction noise on the floor above that kept us up late and woke us early in the morning - likely not a regular occurrence. The price was certainly right.

In the heart of Casco ViejoPosted Oct 14, 2013 on Hotels
Really enjoyed it. Well located next to local shops, bars, within walking distance of historical churches, Plaza Nueva, tramlines, buses. Staff v friendly. The owner -Igone - was extremely helpful. She speaks several languages incl Spanish, French and Basque. Breakfast was basic (good coffee but pastries were pre-packed and compared poorly to fresh daily availabvle at local cafes) The only downside was that we didn't receive the room we had requested; this was remedied the following day. All in all, we would definitely return. We especially liked the quirky touches in the artwork and decor. However if you are looking for a modern hotel this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for somewhere with character and relaxed atmosphere this would be a good place to stay in the heart of Casco Viejo.

We have stayed at this B&B on three visits to Bilbao and always find it charming, beautiful and welcoming. The manager is extremely helpful, giving advice for your stay in Bilbao and finding solutions to any problem that arises during your visit. On our most recent visit I had an unlucky trip and fall and showed up at breakfast with a swollen and blue ring finger which turned out to have been fractured. Within two minutes she had organized a trip to Emergency for us at the nearest hospital and made the episode a lot easier to deal with. Without her help we would have been much more frantic. The B&B is decorated with antique household items and old photos. Given that our stay occurred during Aste Nagusia, the annual street celebration for the city, which brings out street bands and revelers to all hours of the mornings, the B&B was remarkably and thankfully quiet, a real refuge from the party when one was needed. Needless to say, we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bilbao.
