A Room With No Daylight, Scarry Wiew And Hammering

Posted Feb 15, 2017
The staff is excellent and helpful. The room was spacious and clean, and beds were huge. The window looks in some scarry prison like corridor. There is no daylight even in a brightes day. The shower has stupid contols, you always get wet, and handpiece is small with a weak flow. Every morning we got waken up at 7 am by hamerring and smashing sounds and vibrations from somewhere above. We found a ventillation cover fallen down on the floor. I know there are better rooms in that hotel, but that space should not be used as a room, maybe as a service room or storage. And hotels need to be maintained, of course, but it is unacceptable to start demolition jobs every morning at 7 am. Luckily, everything else in Bilbao was brilliant!

Clean and modern hotel

Posted Jan 22, 2017
Pros: Location was good.clean and modern. Loved the buffet breakfast.
Cons: The barman was on days off,so we were not able to have a cocktail. The bar area is a bit dark, but the hotel has plans for re-arranging their bar area.
Location: Good location, able to walk to all attractions. The Guggenheim ,old town, fenicular, and many shops.
Stayed here for three nights.Hotel in a good position for all sights, and main shopping area. Arrived by public bus from the airport, bus stops virtually across the road from the hotel. Our room didn't have the best view, but was spacious, modern and clean.we ate breakfast and one evening meal in the Restraunt ,both good value, Reception staff ,happy to speak English ,they were very helpful and informative, instructing us how to use the underground and reserving a table at a fish Restraunt . This is a city break ,lots of amazing architecture to see, lots of lovely cafes and you must try pintxos.

Contemporary comfortable hotel in good location

Posted Jan 3, 2017
Pros: Location, room specification, decor, enormous comfortable beds, terrific drench shower.
Cons: Staff need to be more in evidence particularly bar staff.
Location: Ten minutes walk from Guggenheim museum and 15mins from Old Town. Excellent public transport links nearby.
We stayed here a week and had a free room upgrade giving us a pleasant view over the Gran Via. This Premium room was large with an enormous bed and was very comfortable - mini bar, fridge, safe, hairdryer, kettle, coffeemaker etc. Only negative points were noise one night from nextdoor guests banging doors and staff often not around when you needed them (bar, reception and restaurant). Breakfasts were a high standard buffet with fresh cooked items on request and dinners were buffet for starters and desserts and off the menu for mains. Location excellent - possible to walk the length of the city easily and safely even at night. Many good bars/restaurants nearby. Hotel is on the main drag amongst the designer/high end shops so you need to walk a way to find anything else.

Dear Sue; Thank you very much for sharing your experience in Expedia.com, your feedback is really important for us. Firstly , accept pour sincere apologies for the inconvenience with our bar staff and I would like to take the oportunity to explain the situation. In our lobby bar, we work with a machine where there is a bottom that should be pushed for all you need and in 2 minutes our waiter will be downstairs. On the rest of departments there is always one person at least to offer our service. Although we should understand that there are many customers in our hotel that should be served too. Finally, we appreciate that your overall impression was good and you enjoyed your stay in Bilbao. Best regards. Jon Espeja Guest relations manager

Perfect except for a loud reception under our room

Posted Nov 30, 2016
Pros: Clean, nicely decorated, large rooms. Staff were helpful.
Cons: They scheduled a loud event right under our room.
Location: The Guggenheim is within walking distance, as is a lovely walk along the river to the old city.
The hotel was a pleasant surprise. The neighborhood was good for exploring Bilbao (walking distance to the Guggenheim). The lobby was pleasant, and the person who checked us in provided excellent recommendations for walking and food. The room was large and had a refrigerator and electric kettle so we could have tea, juice, etc. in the room. The only drawback was that, on the second night, when we need to get to bed early for a flight the next morning, very loud music started playing in the reception room, which was right under our room. We called the desk at 11:30, and they told us that the scheduled event would go until 2AM. To be fair, they did tell us we could move our room, but that seemed like a lot to ask at almost midnight. I would think that if the hotel had previously scheduled a loud, late night event, they would not have checked people into rooms that would be affected by the event. If you stay here, you should ask about scheduled events, and if there is one, don't accept a room on the second floor.

Great barman

Posted Nov 28, 2016
Pros: Bar
Cons: Proper refill of the tea and coffee
Location: Guggeheim museum
Beyond the standard things this hotel offers, the standout aspect during my stay was the quality of the barman, David, whose attention to detail in making drinks to suit the taste of his guests was superb.

The shower was awful: very weak and not befitting of a hotel of this price.

Excellent good value hotel

Posted Sep 3, 2016
The hotel is situated on one of the main streets in Bilbao. It's less than 15 minutes walk to the Guggenheim or the main shopping area. Rooms are extremely comfortable. We were offered an upgrade to a premium room for a small fee and it was lovely, two good sized beds, a sofa and a great bathroom. Our room overlooked the street so there was some traffic noise which may bother some people but we slept very well. The staff were really friendly and pleasant. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on the food. Jaime, a cafe right across the road was perfect for breakfast, lovely coffee and plenty of sandwiches and tostadas. The hotel rooms have nespresso machines and I would suggest bringing your own as they only give a sample and it might not be what you like. Most of the city is walking distance from the hotel but if needed the metro is only 5 minutes walk away, we only used it to go to the beach. Bus station is 5/10 mins also for buses to San Sebastián or elsewhere. The airport bus stops just across from the hotel, very easy and cheap at only €1.45. Overall an excellent relaxed and good value hotel in a lovely city.

Maximum 20 minute walk to all major sites except old town, which I found unimpressive any way. Staff was friendly and helpful.
