2 bed room Infinity ocean view villa

Posted Jul 14, 2016
We had a nice stay. The staff were very friendly. The were some instances of miscommunication between Expedia and Banyan Tree, but Banyan Tree did resolve the issues. Which I appreciated. I will say that the best restaurant to dine at is Tree Tops. I did not find the more popular, Saffron Restaurant very good. But tree tops had very good Indonesian food. The Two bedroom villa is nice, although a bit dark. The outdoor bath area does need a bit of a revamp and we did find that the water was a bit smelly. But otherwise, was very good. The living room is completely outdoors, which is fun during the day, but can be an issue early in the morning or early evening when the mosquitos are out. As for the beach, there was an oil spill there a few months ago and there has been significant damage to the ocean. Your feet/legs will get tar on them when you walk on the beach or go into the water. However, I would assume that is everywhere in Bintan. On the positive side, the water is quite clear. All in all, I would return to Banyan Tree. it is beautiful. Just needs a bit more maintenance.

Dear laura, Thank you for your comment and taking the time to post. We are indeed very proud of our associates, the team and our unique location are indeed the key assets of Banyan Tree Bintan. We are sorry to hear that the oil brought in by the tide has affected your otherwise good impression of the resort. We would like to assure you that we have a team of staff who clean the beach daily to minimize inconveniences to our guests. Please accept our apologies for not getting to it before you. I am looking forward to welcoming you back soon on your next holiday in our resort. Sincerely, Alpha Eldiansyah General Manager

Woke up to the beautiful view of the sea

Posted Jun 18, 2016
Pros: The staff are friendly and they attempted to memorise the guest names too.
Cons: Nil
Location: Nil
The staff upgraded our villa to the biggest one with a connecting room for Spa treatments. There was an infinity pool which seemed to continue into the sea. There was also a jacuzzi by the side. Everything was great except for the occasional monitor lizard which would appear, but that's living close to the rain forest for you.

Wunderschöne Villen mit Blick auf das Meer

Posted May 12, 2016

Dear EF , I am truly pleased to hear that we were able to create the true Banyan Tree experience to you during your stay. Being in a tropical island where rainforest teeming with giant trees and wild life, mosquitoes at times can be an issue here. Nevertheless we provide mosquito repellent in the room and public areas for all our guests and also carry on scheduled pest control measures to manage the spread of mosquitoes. Thank you for staying with us and I look forward to take care of you in the future. Sincerely, Alpha Eldiansyah General Manager

Signature experience awaits you

Posted Feb 28, 2016
Lovely rooms and service was a great experience. When checking in a complementary beverage is served and it was pretty nice in the hot weather. The place where i stayed had a small private swimming pool outside of the villa. They provided buggy rides around the whole facility and it was very convenient. Also I told it was my honeymoon and they provided me a chocolate cake that said happy honeymoon which was very sweet of them. For dinner i reserved the speical dinner named 'The dinner of the legends' It was a dinner on the beach and luckily our couple was the only one there so it felt like the whole beach was reserved for us! To balance the pros and cons I would like to add some points which needs improvement. The swimming pool water had some leaves and branches floating, and the outdoor matress was not super clean so I really didnt fell like laying down there. There was a lizard inside my room which chriped from time to time which was a bit annoying. Overall experience was the best and definetly recommend for those who want a relaxing vacation.

Your comment regarding the cleanliness of our pool and mattress have been noted and follow up action to be taken by respective head of department. May I thank you for the understanding of the challenges we have in a unique natural setting likes ours. Let me assure you that we are doing our upmost to maintain our beach and also treat our villas regularly against insects. Staff & Location Fabulous. Ridiculous food prices

Posted Dec 17, 2015
Pros: The staff were the stars of the show. Fabulous. The location by the beach, and the infinity pool were great. It was a total relaxation experience
Cons: The quality of the villas need improvement. Food prices need to be reviewed downwards, dramatically.
Location: There is nothing to do nearby. We took a trip to Place Lagoi via free shuttle. It was a waste of time. The location by the beautiful beach is perfect.
We were charged for the transfer from the ferry.Considering the short distance from the hotel to the ferry, & the cost of the hotel I think this service should be provided free.It was the principle.Their sister hotel next door, has a complimentary shuttle service. The staff were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. The villa was delightful in terms of location, but tired, and in need of refurbishment and modernisation. No communal facilities- lounge or bar area. We were really quite shocked at the food prices - we were clearly a captive audience. The hotel are aware of the complaints about this - we discussed it with one of the restaurant managers - Trip Advisor is full of complaints about the food prices, & the need for refurbishment and modernisation. £40 for a lunch consisting of 2 sandwiches, 1 beer and 1 soft drink was excessive.A very small glass of wine cost £10. The hotel excuse was the need to import everything. Not true - the same beer at the ferry cost £1 (hotel charge £5). Pool and Beach magnificent. Food was good but we avoided lunches because of the cost. Breakfast was wonderful.

Dear Tony&Lesley, I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Banyan Tree Bintan with its unique traditional Balinese style and its natural setting. Our unique Balinese style villas with fetched roofs set in the rainforest can appear rustic and old, which is part of its charm. Let me assure you that we have a comprehensive upkeep program place to ensure the maintenance of our facilities, especially given the impact nature has on the hotel. I have taken note of your comment on our pricing structure and let me assure you that our prices are still competitive with those of other resorts in the area. Allow me to share with you that I am working closely with our Area Director of Food & Beverage in reviewing it. I am delighted to announce that we will launch our new menu in the beginning of 2016. I hope for another opportunity to welcoming you back to our resort sometimes in the future. Sincerely, Alpha Eldiansyah Hotel Manager

If you must go to Bintan Island, this hotel is suitable. Next door is Angsana, which I'd rate a "3.5". Not much to do at either hotel. Check the weather and sky condition. We had all the haze and smoke from fires, which affected entire region. So we didn't do pools or the beach. Hotel rooms are all individual suites. Very nice and isolated. But could be cleaned better as outside windows clearly had not been cleaned in months/years. Then the bats hanging under high roof line in patio area were an added nature interest. Thus, we didn't sit out there. Spa was OK. Did massage, facial and nails. Fairly routine for this area of the world. Not up to US standards for nails & facials. Massage was great. Food at there restaurants was good. Large family was at one of the restaurants for dinner. Let their children run around room, made enormous noise, staff did nothing even when other diners complained. Prices were well over $100 per couple, yet had to put up with the rudeness.

Dear Traveler, Many thanks for taking your time and share your constructive feedbacks in Expedia. Your feedbacks on the cleanliness and the service have been well-noted and I am pleased to inform you that a further investigation has been carried out and followed by retraining. As you rightly have pointed out, our unique setting in the jungle is also our biggest challenge. We are addressing the wildlife issue at the moment without harming the animals and disturbing the natural environment. I am truly sorry that this has affected your experience. Your comment on the pricing has been shared with the Area Director of Food & Beverage and please rest assures that this will take into account on our pricing structure review. It is my sincere hope that our shortfalls will not stop you to return and look forward to welcome you personally. Sincerely, Alpha Eldiansyah Hotel Manager
