Transit lodging

Posted Sep 4, 2017
Pros: Location. Comfortable, quiet room. Check-in personnel readily accommodated my request for a room with morning sunlight.
Cons: The currency select issue needs to be properly addressed so that guests are not needlessly paying extra bank fees. Sadly, pool was out of service.
Location: Rather isolated. Seems popular with locals for weddings and other parties.
Second time here for BHX layovers; 10 minutes to the airport. Same morning shuttle driver both times. He was the absolute highlight of the visit. Exceptionally chipper, informative, helpful, and any other positive adjective you could imagine. Tried the restaurant this time; no other venues within walking distance. Prices reasonable, portions satisfying and of nice quality. Service was the low spot with extended wait times after prompt seating and after completion of meal; another server eventually took pity on me and brought the bill. She apparently had not received training for the credit card machine, though she made good faith efforts that were appreciated given her willing substitution for my server who was having trouble keeping up with the few tables assigned to her in the half-empty restaurant. While the receipt clearly says "had option to choose currency of choice" this was, in fact, not the case and the choice was made for me, costing me about 10% more than necessary. Same currency issue arose when paying the room bill, with another almost 10% hit due to the poor exchange rate. Pointed this out to the two front desk personnel who, rather than apologizing for the hotel's auto selection of non-favorable currency choice, simply indicated that they didn't control the exchange rate. Disappointing and potentially of significant cost to out of country guests staying more than a single night. Grating since receipt says you were given a choice. I'm alerting my card company.

functional airport hotel but that's all

Posted Aug 28, 2017
Cons: Decent coffee at breakfast inclued. Not everyone likes this watery stuff that passes for coffee in the UK and the US.
Holiday Inn BHX is not walking distance from Arrivals. When you get to BHX there's no info about how to get to the hotel. You might say that's the airport's problem - but that is typical of the UK attitude to customer service. No-one puts themselves in the shoes of the traveler just arrived tired out and looking for a bed for the night. Holiday Inn have a shuttle bus - it takes you to the railway station where there's a monorail to the airport. We're expected to know that...

Ideal for NEC and Airport

Posted Aug 17, 2017
All staff were fabulous! Friendly, helpful, informative ,retained a sense of humour - highly professional. Bar food was really good The standard of accommodation excellent - only negative some rooms on the lower floor near air conditioning units and 101 near entrance which added to general volume but earplugs available at reception! Would recommend unconditionally .

Great Service From Mahad

Posted Jul 20, 2017 on Hotels
I stay here quite often with work, its a handy location, rooms are clean and they have a little gym so perfect for my needs. I stayed last night and ordered room service as i usually do, it arrived quickly but my order was incorrect. Mahad who brought my tray was great, he apologised and said he would sort it out immediately and within 10 minutes he was back with my correct order and he'd also had my tray charge and glass of wine price waived. He was great, really helpful, friendly and efficient. Thanks Mahad!

convenient for airport

Posted Jul 13, 2017
Pros: It's convenience to the airport and the free shuttle.
Cons: Could use some re-decorating and upgrades
Location: I only know about the airport and NEC.
This is a good hotel to stay in if you have an early flight. Comfortable, really good staff, free shuttle to and from the airport, good in-house restaurant with a great breakfast. I'd recommend it.

A hotel close to the airport that was quiet.

Posted Jul 4, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Location and for being so close to the airport - quiet.
Cons: If a king bed is reserved and requested. No matter how busy, that should be honored.
We arrived later in the evening, and although I had reserved a room with a king bed, I got a room with two twins. The hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly. But having the two twins didn't work for us.

Hotel is just minutes away from the airport. Great customer service. Room was a little tired, bathrooms needs upgrading but the bed was very comfortable.
