Nice, Comfortable, & Clean

Pros: Everything.
Cons: Cannot think of anything.
Location: Lots of shopping and great eateries. It is not far from historical Birmingham. Lots to do nearby.
This hotel has been remodeled since my last stay. It looks very nice and is always clean. Housekeeping does a wonderful job keeping it that way. I like the fact that I never had to ask for towels, etc. They kept my room fully stocked daily. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. I was able to sleep all night without interruption. Breakfast was good too. Great value for a nice, comfortable, and clean hotel!

Pros: Location.
Cons: The safety of the building with the stairwells inaccessible due to painting. See above.
The hotel was in the process of changing ownership (to a Hyatt, I believe). Workers were installing new signage, so there was no identification on the building. Had they told me they were under construction, I would not have stayed there. Even on Saturday morning, the workers started at 8:00 in the morning. The elevator was very slow, but I was only on the second floor. I decided to take the stairs, but the stair wells were being painted and they were covered in heavy, pink paper. The door to the stair well was difficult to open because of all the paper. Just out of curiosity, what would have happened had there been a fire or an evacuation that did not allow the elevators to be used? Seems like a bad idea to have the stairs inaccessible...

Great Location

Location: Several restaurants restaurants nearby in a great location
This hotel is going to be very nice when they are finished with the remodel I stayed there during the remodel and the entrance is gorgeous the breakfast was very good the new room that I was in was beautiful once they complete their whole remodel this will be a three star hotel to a four-star the service was wonderful the staff was excellent The room was brand-new for the cleanliness the comfort of the beds were excellent the location is great .

Nice hotel

Staff was courteous and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable but a bit cramped. Lobby area was being remodeled but this didn't hamper the quietness in the room

2nd stay here...will probably not go back.

Pros: Clean, nicely decorated rooms. Comfortable bed.
Cons: House keeping could have provided more than 1 towel/washcloth each for a two day stay. Housekeeping could be mindful that checkout is 11!
Location: Location is nice...close to many restaurants and great shopping.
We stayed at this hotel twice in less than a month. First stay was for my surgery...had to stay day of surgery (after surgery)...they offered a special rate for patients, therefore knowing that I was having surgery and would want to rest. They did not mention that they were under construction, and even though I was heavily medicated, I could not rest for the noise that continued all day long. I let this go, feeling that I was the one who was in pain, and possibly irrational for it. Second stay was on a Saturday night...hotel still under construction; but I assume that they will not be working on Sunday. We went out and stayed out late with friends in the area. By 8 a.m. on Sunday morning there are two cranes being moved right next to our window, making a horrible beeping sound in addition to the sound of their loud engines. This lasted for no less than 15 minutes. I am wide awake with only a few hours sleep! I lay in bed wishing to be able to go back to sleep...it does not happen. By 9 a.m. housekeeping is knocking on the door! I answer the door, 1/2 naked, and remind them that checkout is at 11 a.m. and that I am TRYING to get some rest for all the noise...their response, ok!

I stayed twice ..once in August and again in January. Hotel still in construction. Very annoying. No sign ..hard to locate .Ice outside with no salt ..ect

Nice hotel for the price

Everything was great, but there isn't a sign on the building so I wasn't sure if I was at the right place. They're renovating, though, so that's why. Great hotel otherwise!

Remodeling

We got a great rate because the hotel is being remodeled. There would be noise during the day but we were gone so it was not an issue for us. Breakfast ends sharply at 9 o'clock. Hotel staff friendly and helpful.

Good location

I chose this hotel because it was close to the interstate that I needed to take to get back home. But I had no clue the hotel was under renovation. The first room they assigned us did not have a sofa bed like we wanted. They moved us to the first floor which was too noisy. The tub wasn't clean and the lighting was bad. Breakfast wasn't good at all. We ended up at Starbucks down the road. Birmingham in general needs some major upgrades but this hotel definitely does

I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. I will check into the Breakfast to see what was not up to par. Our Junior Suites do not all have couches they do include sitting areas for our guest.

Grateful!

Pros: Everything!
Cons: Change the tubs.
Location: They have excellent restaurants, stores, and a Planet Fitness Gym less than five minutes away.
This hotel was under construction when we stayed. However, it was never bothersome having the workers present. The areas where they worked were never messy so that it impeded us from going back and forth to wherever we wanted. The hotel room was was nicely decorated. You could see that it had recently been renovated. The only thing that had not been touched in the room was the bathtub. It was told to us that those were going to be soon replaced. Had it been already, I would have given this facility a five star. My family and I were definitely satisfied despite the old tub. The last comment I have is in reference to the staff. From the time that we checked in until the time that we checked out, they were absolutely amazing! I do not believe that I have ever experienced hotel staff that have been as accommodating as everyone of them that we interacted with. We so appreciated their kindness to provide all that was needed to make our stay an enjoyable one. If we ever go back to the area, we would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Wingate Staff, for making our experience at this hotel a great one.
