Pros: Location and the room.
Cons: The bar staff!
The hotel is a short walk from Broad Street and only 15 minutes by foot from the Barclaycard Arena, so a top location. The good: reception staff outstanding and very helpful, the dining room staff good. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. What was ok: the breakfast was average, with the usual hot items drying up in the hot containers. Car parking was VERY limited and I was allowed to park in a disabled bay, while other cars were double parked. We had to leave our car keys with Reception. But it is a city centre hotel - just be aware. The bad: the bar staff spoiled the stay. In the afternoon, when it was quiet, it seemed they were too busy doing other tasks to serve customers. At night, with a crowd, it took 25 minutes to get served and they were serving out of turn - it appeared regulars took precedence over hotel guests and several people, who turned up after me, were served before me. Not good. I had the bar service charge removed from my bill when I checked out.

Thanks for your review. I am glad that you had a great room. I appreciate that our car parking is limited but for a city centre hotel we have more than most. I am gutted about the feedback regarding the bar staff. That is clearly not good enough and I have spoken to the team to ensure we up our game going forward. Kind Regards, Gordon Tyler - General Manager

Pros: It was spotlessly clean everywhere and the staff were so pleasant and helpful.
Cons: The piped music at breakfast was a bit much, especially if seated near the speaker outlet! Perhaps a more soothing choice of music genre would be good
Location: The location is a bit tricky to reach using SatNav. - it directs you toward the underpass alongside the hotel. Only a 10-15 mins walk to the Bullring.
This hotel is well placed for those wanting to attend events in the Barclaycard Arena which is only 10-15 mins walk away. It isn't the nearest, but it was extremely comfortable, the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was good.

Location: Okay
The spa was lovely and you couldn't fault the lovely staff. I did think the bar was very expensive and a shame I looked under the beds!! It was filthy!! Otherwise a very good stay One other point though... why do customers have to pay £13 to park in your carpark.. to use your hotel???

Pros: The genuine friendliness of the staff
Cons: Well- the hotel's description of a 'twin room' was stretching it a bit!
Location: Fairly close to a train and easy access to city centre
Our room was very clean and-eventually- very spacious. Originally we challenged the definition of 'twin room' as one with two mattresses on a double bed frame. The manager saw our point and moved us to a much better suite without question. The lift was being renovated but the staff organised taking up and bringing down luggage. Things which could have proved disastrous did not because of the friendliness and genuine helpfulness of the staff. As in any situation, it's how you deal with problems that counts!

The word Spa is misleading

This was a poor visit, we hoped that the spa would be really great. No robes in room, we did receive one when we asked. Apparently only for exec rooms,we paid £179 for the night room only not exactly the best value, thought the robe would have been there. No sauna - the sign in the 'spa' said sauna - we asked and the attendant where it was and he said that it was a standard Marriott sign and the hotel didn't have one, all a bit strange. Steam room tired, pool and jacuzzi grubby and filled with noisy children. Definitely not a place to relax. Do not go if you seek relaxation. Didn't have breakfast all looked very average. Lift being refurbished, only one lift in action.
