This Holiday Inn Express was one step up from a hostel.

Very poor breakfast. Did not eat there on the 2nd day and purchased breakfast elsewhere.

Good hotel, location, clean and nice room. The mattress however wasn't upto the usual standard unfortunately. Would stay again but hopefully I'd get a different room the next time. Or the mattress will have been replaced. The reception staff noted my comment and I would like to think it will be resolved.

Very disappointed with our room

Pros: The staff were good
Cons: Broken things should be fixed before renting to the customer.
We booked 2 rooms and one had no heating, bathroom door would not close, ironing board broken, power socket was broken and the chair had some white stuff (maybe paint) that hadn't been cleaned properly. When I reported that the heating was not working, they told me that there was a general problem with it and it was being looked at, however the other room was fine, so it wasn't a general problem affecting everyone. I was given a small fan heater for my room. I can't see how they can rent out a room in this condition.

Not the best.

Where to start... A last minute business booking as we had some unplanned work in the area. Arrive at the hotel only to read a sign at Reception informing us that the AC was not working in certain rooms and that portable heaters would be provided where applicable. Both myself and my colleague were in affected rooms and arrived in them to almost have our eyebrows singed off due to the extreme heat. The heaters had presumably been on since Housekeeping had been on duty so it was warm to say the least. Issue number two, the lifts were out of order. We were on the third floor. My step counter was praising all my hard work needless to say! Once in my room, there was a noticeable damp smell.. When mentioning this to staff in reception, they advised that this room has a known leak and that I could be moved if needed. I declined as I couldn't be bothered to move my stuff but I can't help but think that any leak should have been fixed straight away. All in all, after these issues, the room itself was fine and I got more sleep than usual... until around 6.30 this morning when some people on our floor decided to have a full blown voices raised argument... Not amused. While having breakfast, the fire alarm went off three times (reset each time) and upon returning to my room to grab my bags, there was a noticeable smell of smoke in the corridor so someone obviously fancied a cigarette and didn't want to go out... 98 pounds not well spent.
