Tired and dated rooms

I chose the campanile due to its location. I had heard about the chain and the images of the hotel appeared to show a clean, fresh and modern hotel. This, certainly from my room, was far from the truth. The room is sparcely equipped even when compared to Travelodge or even Formule 1 rooms.
There are just 2 powerpoints in the room, neither of which are near the beds. There are no bedside tables or shelves. The chairs appear to have been purchased from the nearest second hand shop. The counter had more notches and cuts in it than the proverbial bed post for keeping score. There was a 5 inch hole in the wall where the door handle had gone through it. There was black mould from damp around the windows.
In the bathroom the "shower" was a mixer tap, for which the taps were so loose it was almost impossible to get the temperature suitable for a comfortable shower. That was if you could even get the broken shower head to point in the right direction. The mixer tap and the sink tap were covered in limescale, this I questioned how? Birmingham is not a hard water area, but these were just disgusting. Along with the fact that the sink tap was broken as well.
The bed was not fixed together, so if you sat near the bottom it slid and separated from the top half. Oh, and double bed, just 3 pillows!
Lighting, a single ceiling light in the corner of the room, a desk lamp and 2 wall mounted "bedside" lamps, one of which did not work.
