not what I booked

Posted Aug 14, 2015
Pros: It was 'comfortable'
Cons: the tv was the size of a laptop screen It would be better if a larger one could be installed, especially for the use of keeping young children amused
Location: the location to Cadbury World and a great local walk
I booked a family room and it was confirmed, a double and 2 single beds. We had a small family room with 2 double beds and 30cms between each. A large sofa was in the window making it awkward to operate the curtains and restricting room use for 4 people. This would have been a greater problem had our children been youngsters. The bathroom was very small and there was no room to see to a child in it. The shower control was extremely stiff and hard to turn. On the other hand the cook was a delight, friendly and served us well. She spoke with our German grand children and made them feel them comfortable.

I only wish I cud have stayed kinder to fully enjoy the hotel and explore the grounds. Loved it !

very nice location (by a country park/golf), friendly staff, very good value for money overall. Could have some biscuits in the room by the tea and coffee making kit ! And internet wifi is free and working at decent speed ! very appreciated.

Excellent for cost

Posted Oct 8, 2011 on Hotels
A good deal of care is taken for such a modest cost - the whole place was in excellent decorative order, the breakfast excellent, the location convenient for travel and also within short walking distance of a number of restaurants, and semi-rural. The only thing that let it down was the view from the room window, which was indeed bad - corrugated iron roof. But there was wifi included, the staff were very courteous and helpful, and the most important thing of all - a good night's sleep.

The Old Rose and Crown Birmingham

Posted May 24, 2011 on Hotels
Spent a couple of days here in a spacious room with a nice separate bathroom. All necessary things were provided for : a good bed; cable tv; free fast internet. The ready to order breakfast was excellent and served quickly. Staff was helpfull in arranging taxi's and sending fax messages. The fact that the restaurant is not open all year around is not a big problem as nearby Lickey has plenty of food opportunities at less that 5 min walking distance. Hotel is located next to a nice golfclub.
