Served the purpose, but disappointing overall

Posted Jul 24, 2017
Pros: Central location
Cons: The AC and the food
Location: Central, easy to walk to shops/theatres etc.
Building impressive & centrally located; however although the hotel site says "the car park is just behind the hotel" & this technically correct it does not indicate you have to walk round 2.5 sides of the building to get to the hotel with pavements in dreadful state of repair so dragging a reluctant suitcase was a trial – as were the half dozen steps & steep hill to negotiate. The room was a nice size but SO hot – why can’t the UK do AC? I had it set in 19, never got below 25. I had to ask 3 times before I got a fan, which was better than nothing but the room was still hot. The staff were young and pleasant but so slow. One restaurant, no choice other the much the same menu as room service, OK again and not much use of you wanted healthy. Expensive for what you actually got, although there was a lot of it. Bathroom also a bit grubby – black mould on tiles round the bath for example I managed to lose my parking ticket; the front desk were useless even though they said “that happens a lot”, no one had any idea what you do. The answer is – and Radisson Birmingham please note (maybe even print out for guests) - at the car par parking machine on the ground floor there is a button with a telephone symbol on it – approx. eye level; press and a very helpful person will speak to you, arrange for payment (£25 for a lost ticket –eek!) and then print you out an exit ticket via the machine. Don’t waste time as I did phoning the number at the barrier, although they were helful

Everything was perfect. Stayed there for 2 nights

Room was spacious and clean. The view was really nice. Parking discount from the hotel was very generous. Beds are really comfy. Smart TV was very intuitive and easy to use.

Nice hotel, excellent location - room like a sauna

Posted Jul 5, 2017
Lovely hotel and perfect location for anywhere in central Birmingham but room was sickening hot. Air con turned right up but made no difference. Front desk sent a fan up and at 4.30am when we had to go outside to cool off offered to move us - Nico the night manager was excellent but when we mentioned our problems (which had been logged) on checking out the female staff member (who was wearing a trainers badge) was very dismissive to the point of rudeness - we did not sleep at all and so would not recommend this hotel - if you do go for it ask them to check your aircon is working - it wasn't a particularly warm day outside so no excuse really!

A little bit of a let down.

The Business Class Room isn't worth the price charged. The room is the same size as any standard hotel room and everything looks the same. Except, the condition of the room was looking a bit shabby. The upholstery on the seating was coming away.

Terrible

Great location, great building in desperate need of refurbishment & help. Dirty hallways, uncomfortable beds, by far one of the worst places I've stayed in. Last time I will stay here until they have a major upgrade.

Lovely hotel

Hotel was a pleasure to stay in. Bed was very comfortable and room was luxurious. However if I did have to criticise anything it would be that there was a hole in the duvet

City Hotel in middle of Birmingham

Posted May 14, 2017
5 minutes from New Street. Nice breakfast. Hotel is in a new building. Booked 2 single beds in a business class room on Expedia. They only had a Business class room with a double bed. We were unfortunately downgraded to a std room with two singles. Room is much smaller. However, we received a discount as a result. Not end of the world but would be good if Expedia room availability and booking system was integrated with that of the Hotel so that you know what you are booking is what you are going to get.

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for the feedback regarding your recent stay with us. I am glad to read you found our hotel to be at a location convenient to you and enjoyed our buffet breakfast. I am sorry you was downgraded in order for you to have a twin room but I am pleased this was resolved for you and you was given an amended rate due to this. It may be worth noting for future booking unfortunately bed preference is only a request and can not be guaranteed unless confirmed with the hotel. We hope to welcome you back to our hotel when you are in the city again. kindest regards.
