Booked this for an appointment I had on Saturday so i had somewhere to stay after a 4 hour drive there. Called ahead to check when i could check in, advised when i would be there and they said someone would be there. Nobody there when I arrived, shutters down, NO CAR PARK but listing advised there was one. After 2 hours trying to find someone, i had to drive 4 hours home at 2am. I was distraught, missed my appointment and the worst thing is i can't get a refund. Dont waste your money.

Lets be frank! This is not the Savoy, but you get exactly what you pay for. The room was, on the whole, clean and tidy and had all the amenities that I needed. Could use a touch of detail to attention in some areas (shower could be cleaner) but all in all a very satisfying experience. What set The Royal George apart though, was the staff. Joanne, the evening supervisor, was friendly, chatty and helpful. The Irish lady in the morning (sorry did not get her name) was so helpful and cheerful!

Reasonable clean friendly staff willing to help you will any issues. Would have to walk to the nearest shops for some hot food.

When we first arrived we was horrified and wanted a refund .. the curb is about 5inches into the car park at the side of the hotel .. entrance looked scruffy and there was drunken men in the entrance .. so off putting.. staff was so helpful they sorted the room earlier for us I think we was expecting it to be horrendous.. was pleasantly surprised it was clean and fresh bedding in our twin room and it felt safe and away from the pub area…we was exhausted and grateful to rest … had a nice nights sleep .. staff were so lovely and helpful… room a little scruffy paintwork etc but basics were fresh towels and bedding and a tv … for the price I think we actually got a good deal .. even the drunken men in bar area .. were lovely and helpful and polite.. Breakfast was delicious staff friendly and helpful..soooo yes we would happily stay there again …everything looked much nicer in the morning.. breakfast Area clean and cosy … we recommend you give it a try .. lesson learnt.. Never judge a book by its cover ❤️

Hotel was unwelcoming, no reception area, only one member of team was professional, disable/ ladies toilets were unusable doors of toilets appeared to be kicked in, bedroom carpet was dirty, no hot water for shower, no management on site , night porter was rude, constantly swearing very unpleasant man, area not safe will never stay here again would not recommend to anyone

After a easy check-in my room a double was sparsely furnished but had what i needed for a one night stay right next to St.Andrews. The pub on match days is lively all day and night so factor this is as if you want peace and quiet this isn't for you. A comfortable bed. I will return for certain and order a breakfast next time.

Someone had clearly used the room before we checked in as there was wee in the toilet and pubes on the toilet seat that someone had obviously forgot to clean up The room door would shut but not lock so didnt feel safe, could hear the people next door and the chair in the room was broken

It good for a quick stay wouldn't recommend more than a night, area seems dodgy. Staff was there but that's it, im not sure if a guy there was working or just a regular drunk helping out but he was friendly. I checked out 5 am and it was him sleeping on a couch resembling draculas butler, gave him key he went back to bed

The property is nice. We have used it a few times now. The only thing I found weird is the man working on the reception is very old to be working. The last time i went there he was too drunk to even walk and was stinking of alcohol. He had to pour me the drink 3 times but still didnt get it right and gave me the change back.
