Looks nice in the picture...

Posted Mar 19, 2017
Looks like a beautiful country hotel but it's in the middle of a busy road, hard to find as just on a turning. Walking in, drunk men were being ushered out, receptionist wasn't friendly at all, breakfast does not start til 8am on a Saturday, too late for us as we needed to check out. Room service menu is basically a pizza. Really difficult to find rooms, receptionist just pointed to the left, didn't explain we had to go up stairs right around and down stairs again, hotel is huge.. room stank of damp, sofa bed was sunken in the middle, terribly uncomfortable, the only good point I can really say is the hotel was quiet, and in checking out the gentleman was extremely polite. Not that cheap a hotel to stay in, and thought I would be getting a country type hotel with breaky from 6am! I would stick to ibis/ travel lodge in future.

Tired

Posted Mar 5, 2017
Pros: The room was clean and the bed comfortable also the tv was large
Cons: the hotel could do with a full refurbishment
Location: don't know but it was quite central
we enjoyed our stay as we went to specific event with friends, however, the hotel was tired and shabby, we couldn't find a lift and the walk to the room was long and down a corridor where the floor appeared to have warn away in parts

We stayed for 4 nights and the hotel is pretty close to the downtown area of Birmingham.

No Orange Juice at Breakfast!

Posted Feb 2, 2017
I asked if there was any Orange Juice at Breakfast, the simple answer was 'No!' That was it 'No!' Basics really!

Thank you for your feedback. I will make investigations as ORANGE juice should be on the breakfast menu. I do apologise for our failure to provide it during your stay.

Convenient hotel to Birmingham City Centre

Posted Jan 30, 2017
Pros: Car parking, food quality, friendliness of staff, reasonably central location, room size
Cons: Decoration, a better restaurant area for guests who are not part of weddings
Location: Central to Birmingham, just a short cab journey away
The hotel is in need of a full refurbishment, which they accept on their own website. We chose it because it has its own car parking close to the city centre. While the decoration was tired, the room was a decent size and comfortable. There were weddings both nights so the restaurant was limited to a side bar, but the food was pretty good and well priced. NB if you want to eat in the city itself, book in advance. Breakfast was good and the service generally was very good

Thank you for your kind comments. We are as you mentioning in the midst of a refurbishment programme and have recently opened a 2nd bar Beauforts to assist with the additional guests when we have a wedding booking.

Good budget option

Posted Jan 25, 2017
Twin room, significantly cheaper to book online than over the phone. Free parking, very pretty hotel, short walk to center. Wifi not great (couldn't get it in our room). Bed comfy, towels very soft, shower gel smelt lovely, good hot shower. Lots of channels on the telly. Some mould around the window and dust, just a little shabby round the edges. Breakfast nothing special (basic fry up, wilted fruit, yogurt etc), but staff very friendly and not overpriced. Would definitely stay again as good budget option.

Nice find, would use again.

Good size room, only negative was it was a long walk from the reception and bar, up and down stairs. The building is very old (and lovely) but could do with some new decorating. Staff seemed friendly, and helpful. Good location close to city centre but with good selection of palces to eat within easy walking distance.

The layout of the hotel means, if you are unfortunate enough to get a room on the second floor, you have a long hike with bags etc up and down flights of stairs, (no lift.) I have stayed before and the food was good, however this time it wasn't and it's over priced. There were only two tables occupied at any one time in the restaurant (us, three people, another couple finished and left, then there was one lady who came in) but the two staff didn't appear to cope, same as the kitchen it seemed as we had a long wait for our meals. The hotel is convenient for the city centre and has plenty of parking. The room was clean and comfortable though a bit dated looking in parts, it is just "ok" for a business trip but I would have been disappointed if I'd gone for pleasure.

You are correct the hotel does not boast a lift, however, the walk to 2nd floor rooms is no longer than that of these large modern hotels with endless lengths of corridors. Thank you for bringing to my attention the 'slowness' in the kitchen and that of the waiting staff - I will of course investigate. We do appreciate all feedback - constructive criticism can only help us improve our services and facilities.

Convienient for City.

Hotel was very dated, staff a little bit on slow side. The hotel would have been beautiful in it's day although very tired and worn at present.
