Nice first stay at Block IslandPosted Sep 19, 2012
Pros: Breakfast and cleanliness. We also liked that it was quiet
Cons: Size and price of the rooms
Location: Up a hill and not as close to the Ferry landing as we had hoped but good exercise I guess
When I showed up to check in the office was not open. I had to call a number posted on the door but no one answered the phone. We did not have to wait too long though befoer the desk clerk showed up. We were not in a hurry so not a big deal. The bathroom was very small and so was the room but very clean. The continental breakfast in the morning was excellent. We were confused because the hotel name did not match the name on the website. We managed to figure it out. I thought it was a bit pricy for the accomodations but all in all we enjoyed our stay.

Cottage BlissPosted Sep 5, 2012
Pros: Cleanliness and the location.
Cons: The towels felt like sandpaper...
Location: It's very close to downtown yet the surrounding area was just beautiful!
It was very pleasent, clean and comfortable. It has a nice cottage feeling. It's in a beautiful area and the view from the window was nice.

Restful accommodations for Block Island visitorsPosted Aug 10, 2012
Pros: Clean, private bath with this room.
Location: Close to the center of everything
We stayed two nights at the Sheffield House. The room was small, but clean and comfortable--thankfully it wasn't so hot that the ceiling fan was enough to provide comfort. I was surprised to find a tv, as Block Island isn't known for luxurious accommodations. The continental breakfast was satisfactory and Sheffield House was very centrally located to the town, and just about a 7 minute walk from the ferry. We would stay there again.

Renter BEWARE! Photos/Descriptiond DeceivingPosted Jul 6, 2012
Pros: Close to town
Cons: Room was NOT what was depicted nor what we paid for...very poor condition, we were VERY disappointed!!! Over priced for what we received.
The room we were given was not in the main hotel shown on our expedia advertisement. We had to walk across a lawn that had garbage strewn about to get to our room, as the road up to the cottage had pot-holes and we didn't want to damage our car. We had thought we had rented a "King suite" the photos shown depicted a full kitchen and bedroom with private bath. What we got was a 1 room efficiency with a small "college / hotel fridge" there was not coffee or coffee maker in our room. It was basically a room of someone's home that had been closed off and turned into a rental room. NOT AT ALL WHAT WE HAD EXPECTED BASED UPON EXPEDIA DESCRIPTION OR PHOTOS. The staff did their best to accomodate us, and even offered to move us to a smaller room in the main house. But, of course, that is NOT what we had paid for. VERY Dissappointing!

Absolutely lovely, but awkward.Posted Jun 12, 2012
Pros: The linens, the well-supplied bathroom amenities (PLENTY of towels and toiletries), the bed itself, and the views, but best of all was the staff.
Cons: The kitchenette needs a sink and wastebasket so that it isn't necessary to go quite a distance to get water for tea or coffee. And it needs a table.
Location: It's a short downhill walk to the main street where the action is. Being on top of a hill gave the rooms an incredible view.
The decor of the room was very pleasing, but the set up was awkward. There was a "kitchenette" with no sink, no wastebasket and no microwave, though they did bring me one when asked. It was very inconvenient to make tea and relax because the trek to the bathroom, our only supply of water, was kind of long through the bedroom and around the bed. There was a 2nd room of no use to us. It had a very high twin daybed, no tv, no easy access to the bathroom. We didn't have a table we could sit at with our tea or coffee, but had to go down stairs to go outside. I made myself tea in the "breakfast room" that was the worst tasting stuff I've ever had. I don't know if it was the age of the teabags or the creamers, but it was terrible. There was only decaf in the breakfast room and our room. It was quite an uphill climb to our cottage and then another climb to our room, so it wouldn't work for my brother. On the first floor, the door was open to a large kitchen like one you'd find in a private residence. We thought it might be for all of the guests in the cottage, but upon entering it, we saw an unmade bed to our right and supposed a guest was using those quarters and the kitchen was for them. That door was open all the time we were there. We never knew if we'd invade someone's privacy sitting by the windows on the porch. Slept well, but wasn't comfortable to just be in. The staff was very friendly and eager to be helpful. The bedding was lovely, as was the view. Mixed.

Not as advertised at all!Posted May 14, 2012
Location: Block Island
The room was advertised with ocean views and you literally had to look between trees to catch a glimpse of the ocean. Very small room with a very uncomfortable bed.
