Needs some TLC

Posted Sep 19, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Cleanliness, big time.
Location: Golf, university access
Check in was fine. Initial room impression was tidy looking but musty smelling. Then we took our shoes off to find the carpet so dirty it was sticky and left black marks on my socks and wife's feet. Upon check out I informed the front desk staff so hopefully the carpet gets the cleaning it desperately needs. Finally; since we were in town during an IU event the room charge was extremely high, as all hotels that weekend were, but we definitely expected a lot more for our money than what we got.

We apologize for the condition of the carpets, and we are going to have a company come out and clean all the carpets more thoroughly.

For half the price we have stayed at hotels where the towels are not frayed and the room didn't smell. There was no handrail on the stairs near Room 212, the steps were treacherous, and the last step to the street was not indicated. The stairs at the opposite end began with a rug that gapped and could have caught a foot. That rug was VERY dirty and frayed. We followed the request to hang up our towels each of the three nights, and each day new towels were provided. The hand bar in the tub was so wobbly, I didn't dare use it. The hotel should close in January 2018, in order to make major improvements.

I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay. The prices were set for the event in town. We apologize for the condition of the carpeted steps, we are going to be replacing the coverings with something better soon.

Pros: the microwave in the room
Cons: Persons answering the telephone at the font desk should be trained in hospitality. Some furnishings were shabby, torn, etc. Breakfast was inadequate.

I'm sorry that you didn't seem to enjoy your stay. I don't know who you spoke with on the phone, but I'm sorry they weren't hospitable towards you. I do apologize for the age of the furnishings in the room, we are waiting for the end of the busy season to start doing some remodeling. As for the breakfast though, it is corporate standard for our level of hotel.

First time staying at a Days Inn and never again. Room smelled of stale cigarette smoke and like someone had thrown up in the room. Ice maker outside did not work so had to ask for ice in the office. They gave me a couple of cups worth. First night at 0100 hours someone was pounding on the door. Second night upstairs people were walking like they had 100 Lbs shoes on and talking on a cell phone for over an hour outside in a very loud voice. Get up in the morning and the car parked next to me was so full of trash I don't know how they could drive it. Never again. The free breakfast is cereal or toast.LOL...

The free breakfast consists of white, wheat, and cinnamon raisin bread, butter, jam, and peanut butter. Then there is fruit and multiple favors of yogurt, two types of cereal, and oatmeal with multiple add ins, coffee with multiple choices of add ins for preference, and apple and orange juice. If you would have informed us of there being an issue with your room, we would have gladly switched you rooms. We do our best to try to keep people from smoking in the rooms, and explain the consequences of doing so, yet there are some people that just won't listen.

Owner was friendly and accommodating, let me finish my work call and do a checkout. WiFi was fast and very good. For the price and location and WiFi, I recommend it.

The hotel staff was friendly, but our room reeked of cigarettes. The breakfast area was lacking as well. Location to IU's athletic facilities was good.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry about the smell of smoke in your room. If you would let us know after going into the room, we would have tried to move you to a room that didn't have an odor. We try our best to keep people from smoking in the rooms, as it takes a long time to get the smell out, but we do try our best to eliminate any odors. It is a free basic cold continental breakfast, consisting of what is required by corporate for a free basic continental. We do hope that you will give us another chance in the future, as your patronage is important to us.

I'm sorry that our location is hard to find. I wish that we had a better address, but alas, the city won't give us a better address. I try to suggest to everyone that calls to look for Denny's, as there is only one in Bloomington IN, and it has a very simple address that is easy to find, and we have a connected parking lot with them. I do hope that you will give us a second chance, as we do appreciate your patronage.

WARNING - DO NOT STAY HERE

Posted May 29, 2017 on Hotels
The power is out in this room as I write this at 2:15 am. I called front desk to say the power is out. The guy who answered the phone said yes, and it will be out until the morning. Nothing he can do.... The power is on in the rooms around us, and the exterior light outside our door is on. Whatever the issue is, apparently this hotel does not think it is important enough to warrant a middle-of-the-night service call to get the power back on in our room. We will never stay in this hotel again, and suggest that you do not stay here either.

I'm sorry that there was a power outage in the building. This is not a usual occurrence, and it was rectified as soon as possible. The gentleman that was working the desk the night the power went out, is a one day a week part time employee. He did contact the owner of the property, and he wasn't able to get anyone in to look at the problem until morning. I do hope that you will give us another chance someday, as we do appreciate your patronage.

Thank you for your review. We do strive to make every stay a nice one. We are working on updating our rooms, but unfortunately that takes time and money, and remodeling hotels takes a lot of money. We do look forward to your next visit.
