Excellent hotel close to centre and museums

Posted Apr 4, 2016
Pros: Location, spacious room, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast
Cons: Slightly faster lift!
Location: Excellent location in La Candeleria area. Short walk to Botero Museum, Gold Museum, Plaza de Bolivar
Hotel is in a great central location close to Plaza Bolivar, Botero museum and gold museum. Friendly staff and large well equipped room. We were on 7th floor so away from any traffic noise.

Nice old colonial hotel well situated.

Posted Mar 6, 2016
Pros: Service and location.
Cons: Veggie options.
Location: Within the historic old town, close to everything.
Very friendly hotel with excellent location in the historic old town. Room was spacious and clean with a nice view. The restaurant has very good service but limited options for vegetarians. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Great Location!

Posted Feb 14, 2016
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful old building with charming decor. High security on street, felt very safe, great breakfast served in courtyard
Cons: Very small gym/pool-closed on Monday for maintenance. Lighting in room poor. Bedspread not clean. Bath fixtures old, peeling paint on bathroom ceiling
Location: Central to all attractions in old city: restaurants, graffiti, museums, churches, shopping, Monserrate
Perfect location to tour the old city and see important museums and churches and access to Monserrate. Great restaurants and shopping nearby. Excellent security. Beautiful hotel with lovely staff. Room could have been nicer. Overall perfect pick!

Nice find

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Hotel was charmingly renovated _ i believe a combination of two older structures. Common areas, indoor pool, restaurant, sauna, - Everything very well done. Room was ok and incredibly clean, beds comfy. My only complaint is that, being warm-natured, i found the room on the top floor to be consistently warm.. i requested a fan and they provided a powerful floorstand model that solved the problem. My daughter was preparing to leave south america after a stay of two years, which involved the sale of her car, etc. and the staff was very helpful and patient with our somewhat atypical questions and offered their help.

The hotel is situated in the Historic Quarter:

Posted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: Charming, old-fshioned style. Very close to museums and churches.
Cons: Friedliness and quality of the staff
Location: Excellent: museums, churches, restaurants nearby
The situation is excellent, but the staff, especially at the reception and for breakfast, is very bad.

Safe haven in Bogota

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: The location and the fact I felt safe staying there.
Location: The location is brilliant right in the heart of the historic area easy to walk to some of many museums. The Gold and Botero museums are fantastic.
I had 3 days on my own in Hotel de la Opera after being on an organised tour for nearly 3 weeks. It was a relief to finally have a hot shower as so many of the 3 or less star hotels we had been staying in didn';t seem to recognise the concept of warm water. The staff were excellent they checked me in for my flight home and were careful to note the taxi's number when I left for the airport. They were very efficient, spoke very good English . Lots of good restaurants a very short walk away and an Exito supermarket just around the corner.

GREAT LOCATION

Posted Jan 25, 2015
Pros: THE POOL AND SPA WERE OUR FAVORITE PART OF THE HOTEL. DON;T MISS THE TWO PERSON SPECIALS OFFERED.
Cons: THE TUB IN OUR ROOM WOULD NOT HOLD WATER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX IT BEFORE WE LEFT. NO BIG DEAL!
Location: WALKING DISTANCE TO MARKETS AND GREAT SMALL SHOPS.
WE HAD A VERY NICE STAY. WE NEEDED EARLY CHECK IN AND HAD A ROOM BY 10AM. THEY LET US STAY IN THE ROOM UNTIL 2PM ON CHECK OUT DAY AND WE USE THE SPA UNTIL 5PM BEFORE HEADING TO THE AIRPORT.

Gem in La Candelaria

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: The location, the staff, over all experience.
Cons: The walls are not sound proof - you can hear everything in the surrounding rooms.
Location: Perfect location near all the main museums, churches, plazas.
Spent just two nights there, but it was a very nice experience. Excellent location in La Candelaria near all the interesting attractions in the center, and on a very secure pedestrian street. Possible to walk to the museums and the cable car station that goes to Monserrate. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. There is a nice restaurant on the ground floor in case you want to eat in, maybe overly fancy but the food and service is good and it's nice to have the option since the area is pretty quiet in the evening. The room was on the 7th floor on the deco side of the hotel. Spotless and with all amenities I needed. The only down side is that the building is old and not sounds proof, so I could hear activity in the halls and neighboring rooms. But this didn't bother me at all at night. Over all I would say a great hotel for the location, staff and the rate.
