Lovely House and Location
This was our 2nd stay at Rustic Retreat. We love this house, it is clean, nicely decorated, pet-friendly, and in a quiet and scenic location. The owners are responsive and care about making their guest's stay comfortable and their experience positive. We are looking forward to visiting again in the future!

Perfect getaway
We were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and comfort of this cabin. The leather couch in the living room was like a big hug and I think everyone ended up napping on it at some point. Great communication, nice yard, great location and we have already made plans to visit again next year!

Rustic Retreat
Beautiful cabin in the woods with wraparound porch to enjoy the mountain views. Convenient to West Jefferson, BRP and Boone. Owner was very attentive, cabin had all of the comforts of home. Highly recommend Rustic Retreat, will be staying here again on future visits.

Great place to stay.
Clean, everything worked. Owner was very responsive to our questions. Furnishings are comfortable & we enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. The beds were very comfortable !! Appreciated having laundry supplies, olive oil & plenty of pans to cook with. The road is good but a little bit of a climb.

Mountain get away
The cabin was very clean, comfortable and inviting. Love the deck that wraps around the house. Beautiful for enjoying coffee or a glass of wine. The only challenge we had was with the fireplace not working. The only did repair it but it took 3 days. Would 100% stay again and recommend to my family & friends

Anniversary Weekend!

We like disc golf and Ash county park is great for that. The house is beautiful and close to West Jefferson, which has great restaurants and the cheese factory outlet, old fashion candy, cheese, fudge, ice cream and wine. We also like to hike at Grayson Highlands, the house is not too far from that. Love the house, love the area.

Perfect location
Second visit (of more hopefully !) to Rustic Retreat--the location and accommodations are ideal for our purposes. Cabin is well maintained, pleasantly decorated, comfortable, has the necessary amenities and the location is perfect for all the outdoor activities we were seeking. Weather happened to be perfect during our stay as well !! Owner is great to deal with/prompt to respond which is definitely a bonus. Rustic Retreat is a perfect "base camp" for a mini-vacation in the NC mountains.

Great cabin!
I loved the layout and build-type of this cabin. The construction gives it a truly “rustic” vibe, and there is a lot of space. The loft is huge! A nice bonus. Wonderful fireplace at the touch of a button, and an incredible 360d deck- wow! Side notes: No Bluetooth tunes to hook up to, kitchen lights are nuclear, and BYO spices if you like to cook; all easily surmountable, and this cabin is well worth buying a couple of things at the store and making yourself at home in. I would love to stay here again! A wonderful spot.

Quiet, restful and beautiful
The little town of West Jefferson (about 3-4 miles from cabin) is quaint and has interesting shops. The prospect of fishing, hiking, etc. in the environs is also attractive. But the quiet, somewhat secluded natural beauty surrounding this cabin and the restful beauty of the cabin itself were the greater attractions for us.

The Cabin
Clean, quiet and comfortable. Overall the cabin was clean and was well stocked with towels, washcloths, bedding, pots and pans. Situated on a hill, in the woods, it was very quiet. The beds we’re comfortable and there was plenty of space for a family of 6.

This amazing house has a rustic feel with wholly modern conveniences. It was rainy chilly our first night, the stone fireplace heated the place nicely. The weather cleared out and we were able to enjoy the view from wraparound porch. One feature that I found unique is the tree growing through the wraparound deck, the deck appears to have been built around it instead of cutting the tree down. Great location, great cabin!
We had so much fun exploring West Jefferson! The cabin was great although we did have a furry visitor (chipmunk) in the toilet one morning (think he came down the toilet vent overnight)! He unfortunately didn’t survive but was definitely surprising to see the whiskers! Cabin was well stocked with everything we needed to cook meals! Loved the neighborhood too! Enjoyed how quiet the neighborhood is and particularly the cabin. Saw lots of deer and foxes on our morning and evening walks. A family of deer (buck, doe and 2 babies, walked in the woods by the cabin every morning. We stayed the month of August and very grateful for the cool temperatures; lower 60’s in the morning and low 70’s in the day. We hiked some outstanding trails all within an hour of the cabin. Our host was very accommodating and responsive. Super place to relax when you want or to shop or wander.

Exactly What We Wanted
This beautiful cabin was perfect for a short get-away for our family last fall. The kitchen was huge and well-equipped. We very much enjoyed the massive stone gas log fireplace each day. The neighborhood was lovely for taking walks and enjoying the views and the other gorgeous cabins. We spent some time in the quaint downtown area of West Jefferson--shopping, antiquing, and dining. We would love to return if we are able, and would definitely stay at this cabin again.

Hi Juan, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I'm a bit confused about your comment about power in the master bedroom. Our cleaner used the vacuum in that room and says everything is fine. We've also had guests stay and they also report no problems. Unfortunately our cabin is in the mountains, so there is no trash pickup. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Cabin was perfect for a family. Everything was there for you to use and beyond. One major issue was checkout process. I was accused of leaving pet hair, when we do not have any. There were other issues at checkout process that we were accused of. I would take pics at checkout.

A Private Retreat
Great location. Enjoyed hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway and visiting the two nearby churches that have Fresco paintings by Ben Long. The cabin was clean and the very well stocked with whatever we needed (kitchen, linens, etc.). The leaves were peak so it was beautiful! Wish there had been a view of the mountains from the deck and I suppose there is once the leaves fall. A terrific private getaway!

We found the property to be just what we needed while we were in West Jefferson attending a destination wedding week end. The master on the main was the perfect set up for our son, daughter-in-law and there nine week old infant son. The only thing that I’d address with your cleaning staff are the spider webs complete with dead spiders in the cathedral window in front of the staircase. No big deal for us as we have our own Mountain home in Newland and understand bugs come with the territory. Just thought you might want to let your cleaners know. We would certainly stay at your property again if the need ever arises. It was very comfortable and relaxing! Great for families with plenty of space to be together comfortably! Thank you.

Memorable Stay! Highly Recommended!
I brought my family with me to celebrate my Birthday weekend and also visited Grandfather Mountain, and we couldn't be happier with our visit! This place is Immaculate, from the inside of the property to the outside. Everything is as its listed and More! May I mention I took full advantage of our jacuzzi tub. Also you have everything you can possibly need right there, linen, extra pillows, washer dryer, plates, pans exc... The surrounding are very quiet although we did meet the neighbors who are super friendly! The trails close to the cabin are amazing and offer beautiful views of the mountain sides. I could go on and on. Let me just say we will be returning very soon. I highly recommend this as a quiet retreat away from chaos of our daily lives. You will not regret it!

Nice owners and nice cabin, but.....
As is too often the case, pictures provided or a rental property are taken when it is new or newest and do not reflect current condition. This cabin needs a lot of maintenance. Neither of the women in our group could open the front door lock due to it's impaired functionality. A bathroom door would not close due to age misalignment. Back porch light did not work. There were others but it simply is not as nice as described. There is no view and the furniture appears mostly old castaway furniture. It is a nice quiet location and has most everything needed (no Kuerig) but is just average.

James, I'm so sorry to hear you were not satisfied with our cabin. I have let our handyman know about the front door, bathroom door and porch light. He checks the property monthly and didn't notice any problems. In addition, our recent guests have left nothing but positive feedback. Since the original pictures were taken some time ago, we have installed granite counter tops, leather sofas, new bedding for all beds and had the exterior painted. Thanks for pointing out the doors and light - we will have them fixed right away!
