Impressive but not perfect

This is our second stay at this hotel. First time was a few years ago, under different management. We think it went from excellent to just good.
Note that some problems are not due to the hotel, but to the island: overall, Bora Bora seems too expensive for what it has to offer and you have the feeling that all tourism companies are fixing prices like similar -and very high- prices for restaurants of widely different quality, t-shirts for $30+ anywhere in the island, chinese-made souvenirs costing 5 times what you pay in Hawaii for a similar item (like refrigerator magnets for $10 US a piece)
