Centrally located convenient hotel

Pros: location, location, location and cleaness and simpleness
Cons: remove the desk and make a room feel more spacious. breakfast was kind of ok.... could be better?
as it is centrally located I could easily walk to many places, then come back, have a bit of nap then go out again. I took two different winery tours so the meeting point was always at the central touring information office, which was about 5 mins walk. It was great. Very convenient BUT the room was very small. My room had two single beds but I could not have any place to do push ups and crunches on the floor, it was that small. all in all, it was tidy and clean, simple, nothing special but had everything I needed, and great location so I could definitely use it again. If you don't expect anything fancy, then highly recommended.

Pros: Location. Location.
This is a great place to stay if you want to be right in the center of Bordeaux. The rooms are small but have everything you need. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is no elevator so it is a bit of a lug if you are on the top floor. Good value.

Great Place to Stay!

Pros: Cleanliness, staff, location, breakfast, parking, quiet, price.
Cons: The toilet was too close to the shower so I actually had to sit sideways on the toilet. Not a big problem and kind of funny, but could be improved.
Location: Perfect location! The nearby stores all close at night so it is very quiet. You can walk to the river/food very easily.
This hotel is very clean and the location is great! It is in the middle of a big shopping area in downtown Bordeaux, but it is not near any loud restaurants or bars, so it is very quiet at night. The staff were patient with us because we didn't speak French and they only spoke some English; they were very helpful! Our room had two small beds and a nice clean bathroom. It was small by American standards, but average size for the French hotels I have stayed at. It had plenty of room for the two of us. The shower was tiny (big enough for me because I am small) but it was very clean, which I find more important. The breakfast costs 8 Euro and was WELL worth it! They gave us a good discount at a nearby parking lot for our rental car; something I was unsure of heading into Bordeaux with a car. The price was very reasonable for what you get here, great value!

Lacks amenities

No elevator, no air conditioning, long walk from parking, small space. If you just have backpack and are there when weather not hot, then it is OK. People are nice.

Nice central hotel, but very noisy

The Hotel de France was in an excellent location, very close to the beautiful sights in the old quarter. As a result, however, it was very noisy. Since our room had no air conditioning, we had to keep the window open which let in all the noise. However, the room was very clean and the hotel staff were incredibly lovely and helpful. Overall, would recommend and return - but bring earplugs.

Pros: Location, staff, advice about where to eat
A lovely little family run hotel. Twin room on the first floor which perfectly suited our needs, compact but with everything we required. If you want to spend lots of time in a hotel then this is not the place for you, but as a base where we went out and about from it was brilliant. Personally I don't think the breakfast is worth the €8 but it does set you up nicely for the day. There is a supermarket just round the corner which is perfect for picking up a packed lunch (we could see it out of our window). This is a great hotel if you are seeing Bordeaux on a budget and as long as you aren't expecting frills you won't be disappointed.

Very friendly, great location, no a/c

Pros: The staff were very friendly. The location is unbeatable!
Cons: No a/c during August and no wi-fi.
Location: The hotel is on a side street off a major thoroughfare. All the ease of access, none of the noise. Right in the middle of the city center.
I had a very nice time here. The staff were all very friendly. However, I didn't realize that there was no air conditioning, and I had no fan in my room. Other rooms had fans, but I was not at the hotel during the day to ask for one. Most of the year, this wouldn't be a problem, but I was there during a heat wave, and my room was rather warm at night. I also expected wi-fi so that I could check my email, but that was not available either. I think they only had cable internet.

This was a nice hotel in a great location. Shower was good with hot water, room was clean. Only downfall is that you can hear people walking past your room but people don't spend too much time in the hallways so it's not too bad. The staff were really helpful and suggested a nice non-touristy restaurant for dinner. We would definitely stay here again.

Good hotel for impoverished hookers in need of decent sleep

Very convenient to airport shuttle (7 euros). Convenient to city centre. Room very quiet but small, window on blind wall which you could touch with your hand, impossible to close or open blinds entirely, dust, heating not working. State of cleanliness bad. Stains on walls. Paints and joints need to be redone. Old fixtures and fittings. Did not dare use pillow on bed and decided the pillow in the cupboard was probably cleaner with germs long dead through not being used. Toilet roll stained. No wifi. No lift. Breakfast was OK. For the same price, I would have been better in a big chain hotel. This hotel will do for one night on a business trip when absolutely exhausted and provided you're short-sighted enough to not see all the dust and old decrepit walls, tiles, carpet, and the blind wall within a foot of your window, with an ivy potted plant in the rain gutter. It did not rain that night, so I can't say whether you'd hear the rain in the gutter or roof touching the window. Filthy bottom of the view on the groundfloor. Thankfully I did not see any bugs. The room's only redeeming feature was the quiet - no noise during the night (though some in the morning). I have slept in cheaper and better hotels in France. I did not enjoy this hotel despite the fact I am used to sleeping fairly rough in developing countries where I have become an expert at chasing giant cockroaches.

Bon accueil; hôtel en rue piétonne donc pas de circulation de voitures; accord avec le Parking sous terrain des Grands Hommes pour tarif très réduit.
