Quirky hotel, great surroundingsPosted Sep 20, 2016
A real surprise, very comfortable rooms and great views. Village is an oasis outside Bordeaux. Lack of restaurant facilities on Sunday and Monday night a big of a shame.

Excellent restaurant with rooms.Posted Jul 26, 2016
We stayed for 6 nights in this arty hotel. The bedroom was slightly style over comfort but had a wonderful view. The shower wasn't fixed and soaked the floor and there was no privacy when showering which may be a problem for friends sharing a bedroom. However the staff were lovely and the ambience was great and a meal in the restaurant was fantastic. A special mention to Monsieur Phillip who made us smile every morning.

The hotel was great, but the receptionists really need to do a public relations course. They were blunt to the point of being rude. However the location and hotel facilities were fantastic.

Luxury hotel short stayPosted Jul 5, 2016
Pros: Virtually everything.
Cons: Colour of pool liner is black so the water doesn't look inviting to swim in.
Location: Out of city with great views and has own vineyard. City centre close for driving to.
Fantastic views from a great location. Rooms spacious with lots of storage. Restaurant food awesome. Staff friendly.Good Wi-Fi speeds.

Wonderful hotel, highly recommend it!Posted Oct 26, 2015
Pros: The design is amazing as are the views and restaurant
wonderful hotel, highly recommend it! The hotel is wonderfully designed by an important French architect. The restaurant is Michelin starred. Hotel staff are friendly and the service is top. I would give this hotel 5 not 4 stars. It is located in a nice little village outside of Bordeaux. The rooms look onto the city and the views are great. The black pool was very special and still great to swim in even though it was late October when we stayed. Highly recommend the St. James!

Panorama of BordeauxPosted May 21, 2015
Great facilities and fantastic food with 270 deg. view of Bordeaux river valley. It is in a tiny village on hillside outside of Bordeaux. Unless you are in to relaxing by pool, reading, and short walks around town, then a car is a must. We were early in the season, so staff was able to be very accommodating for early check-in and late check-out. Every one was very friendly. Their dining room is the place to go for celebration meals -- very high class cuisine at high end prices (at least by USA standards). They also have a bistro a block away with more everyday fare that is half the price of the hotel dining room and well patronized by locals at lunch and dinner. Will definitely recommend and stay there again when in the area.
