Great location in a great city, though overpriced

Posted Aug 26, 2015
Pros: Location and amenities
Cons: Possibly include a complimentary breakfast, especially when the room costs in excess of $500 a night.
Location: Experience downtown Boston and all its wonders.
The hotel is good but overpriced. The location in downtown Boston is near perfect. However, the price tag of over $500 a night is very steep. I have lived in significantly better hotels that cost much less (a grain of salt - I had the misfortune of visiting the city during a busy conference week and nearly all the hotel rooms in the downtown core were sold out). Perhaps it's a blessing that Boston is not hosting the Olympics in 2024! The city doesn't have the hotel infrastructure for it.

Nice hotel and good location

Posted Aug 23, 2015
Location: Boston Public Library, Prudential Center, Trinity Church and Old South Church nearby
Room was good-sized, bed was comfortable, air conditioning adequate, shower & bathroom also nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bar was ok; had breakfast in restaurant the last morning and the service & food were average, nothing special.

Excellent location

Posted Aug 22, 2015
Pros: Location, complementary wine reception at 5:00 pm, room service, great air conditioning
Cons: Our room, #401, was far too small. Neck pain, as the television was not in front of us when lying in bed, but on a dresser located left of the bed.
Location: Downtown Boston is fabulous-restaurants, libraries, museums,
Hotel is in an ideal location. Staff is professional, friendly, helpful.

Great location for sightseeing and walking access to Fenway Park. The only negative is the restaurant which has a limited menu.

Great location, nice staff, comfortable beds.

Posted Aug 16, 2015
Pros: lcation
Cons: very little room for storage of your personal items in the bathroom.
Location: Very handy to Trinity Church, Newbury Street and public transportation. Downtown is walkable, but bring comfy shoes.
We stayed for several days in August. The staff were polite and helpful. It was a pricey choice for us, but the location was perfect.

Pretentious and poor value for the price

Posted Aug 5, 2015
This hotel describes itself as unpretentious and boutique, but it is neither. We found it to be highly pretentious, yet the room and amenities were very poor, considering the price. There was no coffee maker in the room, and when we asked about it, we were told that they were adopting a "European boutique style." The light and faucet was broken in the tiny bathroom, and the shower was so powerful that it was painful. The decor was very dark (it looked a lot like a funeral parlour), and the windows were so dirty that it was difficult to see through them at all. The parking rates were unreasonably high, considering the price of competing garages in the area. While bathrobes and slippers were supposed to be included in the room, they were only available "upon request". This hotel provides the appearance of being upscale, but it actually nickel and dimes their clients. The only upside was that the bed was comfortable. We will not stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it to others.

Older Hotel. Excellent Location.

Posted Aug 4, 2015
Pros: We liked the location best.
Cons: Some guest rooms are rather small and one of the two elevators is small as well.
Location: Everything in Boston is within walking distance of this hotel.
We arrived at the hotel well before check-in. Hotel staff was very happy to take out 9 bags and find a home for them until our rooms were ready. We left a cell phone number so that they could contact us when the room was ready. Just after lunch, we phoned the hotel, and they said that there were rooms available to us, but they wanted to put us in room that were next to each other. I thought that was nice, given that we have not made that request. When we got into the rooms I found the room with two double beds was nearly twice the size as the room with one king bed, so it is clearly worth going for the two double bed room if our experience was at all typical. Everyone at the hotel was helpful and our stay was enjoyable.

Pros: location
Cons: better price, had to pay extra to park the car and that was not told to us before hand.,
The room was not clean and very small for the cost
