Comically small (and expensive) roomPosted Oct 7, 2015
Pros: Good location. One of the women at the front desk was very nice.
Cons: Since the rooms are so small and the walls so thin, the rates should be drastically lower.
Location: Near Boston Commons and downtown in general. In walking distance from the art museum (though it's quite a long walk).
We laughed when we first saw the room-- it was so small! Two twin beds smooshed in a narrow room with an odd layout. No proper closet. No room for chairs etc. For the exorbitant price we were certainly expecting better. I was also woken continually through the night-- a lot of sounds carried from the other rooms (esp. from the plumbing). On the plus side, the location was good.

Expecting more for the pricePosted Oct 6, 2015
Pros: The staff try
Cons: Honest value. Improved facilities
Location: In the main shopping district
Including taxes, one night via Expedia was charged at over $500 for a room which was pleasant but not luxurious. Small shower, no bathrobes, no water, empty fridge, no staff to help with luggage to and from the room (the one or two reception staff on duty have to double up to do everything else - which they do try to do), no view, no welcome or information folder in the room, no TV channel guide (and small TV screen). This was our last night before returning home and so I was willing to spend extra to have a memorable stay. It wasn't memorable! It is the YWCA - not a fact that gets mention on their website - with odd colour schemes and layout. If you want to stay in a YWCA, this is for you but do expect to be stung by the price.

Loved this hotelPosted Oct 6, 2015
Cons: Nothing needs improving
Location: T & buses close, Copley Square, clean area, large buildings but not congested, easy walking to Boston Common,& Freedom Trail,Trinity Church,Newbury et
Great staff, very helpful and friendly, good location ,safe, easy to reach all the sights, rooms and bath very clean, no complaints at all, room and bath were nice size for what we needed, very comfortable beds, would stay there again. As a matter of fact a staff member ran us down outside in rain to let us know that he had been mistaken about the time a nearby eatery opened so we would not go that early. How great was that!!! Name brand coffee available all the time. My daughter is usually a little picky and she was very impressed.

Great location! but room comfort not greatPosted Oct 2, 2015
Pros: Location, staff
Cons: seating in room and TV location
Location: Trinity Church, shopping, eating, bars
Loved the location, central to many things. But the only chair to sit in room was uncomfortable, and the television was off to the side, not movable, uncomfortable to look at from bed. But the staff was great, very helpful and friendly.

Smart and central city hotelPosted Sep 28, 2015
Pros: Interesting building. Quiet and clean. Handy kitchen where you could make tea and coffee.
Cons: No chairs in the bedroom. Price quite high for a smallish room.
Location: Close to Back Bay station, shopping centres, stylish Newbury St. Also the best bakery ever for breakfast - Flour - is just across the street.
Hotel 140 is ideally situated in Back Bay in walking distance of many attractions, shops and restaurants. Also convenient for the airport shuttle bus which only costs $5.

Ridiculously overpriced given the rate I paid vs. the quality and size of the room. Seemingly barely larger than a breadbox, there wasn't even a proper closet for clothes and storage of the ironing board and luggage. More important, the walls were paper thin, I could hear EVERYTHING around me. Very disappointing.

Great LocationPosted Sep 6, 2015
Pros: Great staff, good security, good soundproofing, comfortable bed, small bathroom, but the towels were large and thick. Lighting was adequate.
Cons: Better grade of toilet paper. The worse than awful wake-up call system. More variety of selection of Keurig cups in the lounge.
Location: OMG, all of Boston is available via close MTA stations and buses! The Boston Common is a short walk as are some excellent restaurants.
Location is awesome. If you will be using public transport, it is unbeatable. There are 2 MTA lines within 2 blocks of the hotel - in opposite directions. There is also an Express Bus running to-from Logan that is free with an MTA Charlie Card ($19 for 7 days unlimited bus/subway travel); this bus stops by the Library - 2 blocks from hotel. Hotel itself is clean and comfortable. It's remarkably sound-proof; there was a crying baby in the next room - I heard it but it sounded a lot farther away. I never heard anyone from the floor above nor any traffic noise. All remarkable in a city hotel. They have a good snack bar in the building that I used for breakfast. They have made-from-scratch oatmeal and a great fruit cup as well as the usual pancakes, waffles, and eggs. Only serious gripe: a completely unreliable wake up call. Out of seven nights, I only got a call at the request time once! The front desk said that the system was being upgraded. But six out of seven misses, really. I will use Hotel 140 again.

Everything I NeededPosted Sep 6, 2015
Pros: It was a good value at a low price. It was clean and comfortable. Close proximity to public transportation was convenient for me.
Cons: Room is small, but that was not a problem.
Location: It is a short walk to the Back Bay train/subway station. Boston Common was a walkable distance.
The room was small, but clean and comfortable and everything I needed. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a very short walk to the Back Bay station where I could use public transportation to get me close the the more expensive hotel where my meeting was held.
