Guests Beware of Telephone charges

Posted Aug 24, 2015
Beware if you use the room land line: the long distance charges are unconscionably expensive .On Saturday I had a 120 minute conference call using a toll-free number and, much to my horror, that I was charged $190 inc. taxes for that call,i.e., over $1.50/minute. When I complained to the front desk I was told the rate was set by Verizon which is arrant nonsense. At the very least, the hotel should put a big warning sticker on the handset to warn guests. Had I known I would have used my cell phone and the call would not have cost me anything. This is an inexcusable and deceptive business practice by the hotel.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, the phone charges are posted in the room, so sorry about the confusion! Our phone rate is the daytime operator assisted rate, which is set by the phone company, along with connection fees and other surcharges. Again, please accept my apologies. Fantastic hotel, everything you'd want!

Posted Aug 23, 2015
There was always something to do! Complimentary bikes, kayaks and wine! Staff were amazingly attentive and helped you with any questions or queries, never felt uncomfortable or unsure. Hotel itself is very beautiful; clean and well presented. Same for the rooms, lovely interior. Perfect for dog owners. They really do have everything you'd want

Kayaks and Bikes

Posted Aug 19, 2015
Being able to use the Kayaks with my son at the end of long hot summer college tour day made our stay, along with great friendly helpful staff.

Comfortable hotel in Cambridge

Pros: Location! Comfortable beds.
Pricey but not overly so for an overnight stay in Cambridge. Location is central via walking and T. Comfortable beds and a nice view of the Charles. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful.

Great Hotel, very clean, comfortable bedding. Loved the wine reception with the tasty snack of flatbread pizza. Also, pet friendly which was great because I had 2 dogs with me.

Great Location

Posted Aug 16, 2015
Pros: Beautifully decorated hotel exceptionally clean The front desk staff is the true gem of this operation; our housekeeper was pleasant & accomodating
Cons: recommendations: a dresser in the room which would allow you to actually unpack your belongings and a fan in bathroom & relocation of the toilet pape
Location: Convenient to the hotel is the North End, the Freedom Trail, The Museum of Fine Arts, The Museum of Science and eating and shopping in the square.
We enjoyed a four night stay in Boston to explore the city, dine with friends and visit museums

The hotel is well appointed and very comfortable.

I typically judge a room by how well I sleep. In the case of the Marlow I slept like a baby. It is a bit farther from Harvard Square than I anticipated but not inconvenient. The bar and restaurant were also great.

Better than a downtown hotel

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: Great staff. Location free of downtown noise, but easily accessible to any part of Boston. Mall next door for shopping and fast food if you wish.
Location: Boston is a history buff's paradise. Learn a lot about early American history in an easy 3-mile walk on the Freedom Trail. Great food in North End.
I asked a guy at Logan Airport where the shuttle buses were and he suggested I consider a cab. The shuttle was $22.00 and he thought a cab would be about $25.00. I decided I would try the cab to avoid stopping at 4 or 5 downtown hotels before getting to Marlowe. The cab was $27.00 including a tip. That was the beginning of how convenient this hotel is, even thought it is in Cambridge rather than Boston. If you like uncertainty and being crowded into subway cars with people who don't smell exactly "fresh", then save a few bucks and take the subway. Otherwise, walk (everything is close in Boston) or take a cab. The hotel itself is great. Everything you expect from a Kimpton hotel: super staff; kayaks and bicycles for exercise and exploring; location next to a major mall; and, no downtown noise.
