How often can you stay in police headquarters? Great boutique hotel with complimentary hot chocolate in the gathering room.

All staff provided impeccable service.

Pros: Respectful upgrade of an iconic Boston landmark. My bathroom had both a bath and a shower -- now *that's* civilized.
Cons: The option to save resources by not having linens changed every day.
Location: Easy walk from this location to the Boston Public Garden, Boston Public Library, shopping, fine hotels, and,of course, the subway.
The Police Department meme is just tongue-in-cheek enough to be both respectful of the building's original use and fun for guests. The restaurant and bar, called The Precinct, is happening: Full of loud, rowdy young people having a good time. Don't worry about your beauty rest, though, at least until traffic really picks up around 8 a.m., because The Precinct is in the basement of this heavy old building and you won't be disturbed by the party.

The Expedia Effect

Posted Nov 4, 2016
Location: It's a ten minute walk, different directions, to the theatre district or Copley Square.
I used points to pay for two thirds of the room rate. I didn't think it would affect the location and/or size of the "deluxe King" room we were assigned, but I think it probably did. We were given a very small room with a view of the lower hotel roof. It was in the corner so it was quiet but I was disappointed by the cramped quarters and really wondered if it was due to booking through Expedia points as opposed to a direct reservation. When I confirmed the day before we were to check in, they couldn't find my reservation until I mentioned it was through Expedia. On the plus side, the bed was extremely comfortable and th shower pressure strong and the water hot. The hotel is unremarkable. In this price range, the Langham or the Lenox are much lovelier, with larger rooms, nicer lobbies, lovely bars and restaurants.
