Comfortable, friendly clean hotel on Newbury St.

Posted Jan 22, 2017 on Hotels
Having coffee & tea in the lobby was nice but it needed to be refreshed more frequently (hot water was empty, tea bags out); skim milk option in lobby and at breakfast would have been nice.

My room could have used more pillows ( i only got two) and more outlets. There was only one on an extension cord, for today's travelers that is not nought for all the mobile devices/laptops. I could have done without the music playing in the lobby-a disincentive to sit and relax or chat. While I understand it was a renovated old hotel, it took almost 5-7 minutes to get hot water in the shower in the early AM and you had to go down to the basement to get the elevator or up one whole flight of stairs. Finally, breakfast started on the late side (7:30 AM). No way to grab breakfast and make an 8 AM meeting. Otherwise staff was friendly and helpful.

Thanks for staying with us. We work hard to make our guests happy and appreciate your feedback! We are so sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay. We want all of our guests to feel comfortable and at home. We do keep two additional pillows and a fleece blanket in the closet of your room. Also, our elevator is accessible from all floors including the lobby. Please contact the front desk next time you have any concerns and we would be more than happy to help you!

Old-school charm in a central location

Posted Jan 9, 2017 on Hotels
Centrally located in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood, the Newbury Guest House offers a charming and romantic alternative to the big hotels in its vicinity. The guest house is set in a century-old building, with staircases that creak appropriately and a welcoming lounge area in front of the reception desk. The rooms are spacious and up-to-date, with a fireplace and mantel as well as a flat-screen tv and strong wireless connection in the one where I stayed. The charms of the building echo the charms of the neighborhood. Newbury Street is itself a prime shopping area, but Copley Square, the Public Garden, Chinatown, the Esplanade, and much else are all within reach with a comfortable walk.

Perfect. Newbury st., is the heart of Boston.

Posted Dec 29, 2016
Nestle in the famous Brownstones of Newbury St. And located in the heart of the city. The hotel was quiet and quintessential Boston. The hustle and bustle just outside the hotels door. Fun shops. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Breakfast was great and had a great view of Newbury st. Parking can be a challenge, but hotel does have off street parking, but cars aren't necessary for someone's stay in Boston.
