Good hotel if the price is right

Pros: Customer service is very welcoming and helpful.
Cons: Please add a few extra small chairs in the triple room. Only one chair for three people is not sufficient.
Location: Centrally located in Botafogo. Near the metro, and all the pubs and restaurants.
The room and furniture seemed old and over-used. But overall if is very comfortable stay. Excellent Wifi and comfortable A/C. Large size room with balcony. The staff was welcoming and helpful in time of needs. Because there were three of us, we asked for extra bed sheets, towels and a chair, hotel provided them promptly. Probably not a 4 1/2 star hotel, but who am I to judge.

Very nice hotel, appropriate for business.

Pros: Extremely friendly staff, good food, efficient service ... nothing more to say!
Cons: Check-in is at 4pm, a bit late, especially if you fly in from the US where most flights are overnight.
Location: Quite centric.

Overall nice hotel. A little sketchy area. My biggest complaint was that I paid for a poolside room and they put me in a room facing another buildings exterior. When I asked for a poolside room they told me there was not one of ailable and instead offered me a different room which I did not choose to accept.

Hotel was great. We had a beautiful view of Christo. Area is ok. Cute bars about two streets down. Need group- walk in pairs. Great staff.

This hotel staffs were not very friendly. They hung up on us a few time when when call about the Internet in the entire hotel bring out. The water was also out the next day. The 3rd day, the elevator was not working so we had to l walk 8 flight of stairs everytime.

Conveniently Located

The Mercure Botafogo Hotel was conveniently located for the site of my conference, a nearby university. The room was spacious, the television provided access was CNN and BBC for news in English, and the breakfast buffet and restaurant food were good. The staff were very accommodating.

Disappointment

My friend and I scheduled to have 7 days at this hotel. Due to lack of travel documentation we were not allowed to board our flight from the united States. When had to can our hotel stay. We never check in and were charged the entire fee for all 7 nights. So not only was our dream trip cancelled we lost out on a lot of money. We have had difficulty working with the staff to get a refunded for the unused service.

Friendly & helpful

Overall a very friendly hotel with accommodating staff: Marco and Rose were particularly helpful. Staff spoke superb English, and assisted us with tours. Tasty in house restaurant, excellent free wifi. A little scary area but centrally located for tourists.
