Grand style hotel great for exploring

Posted Feb 14, 2018
Pros: Location, nice landscaped grounds with lots of space, spacious rooms
Cons: Service
Location: Boudhanath Stupa 10mins walk, lovely surrounding little alleyways for shopping Pashupatinath Temple is around 10mins drive.
Stayed here for 5 nights as a family of four (kids 2yrs and 4yrs) in interconnected rooms. The main hotel reception and grounds are really lovely and feel like a complete escape from the surrounding crazy streets. Lots of outdoor space to wander and for the kids to run around. We ate in the main restaurant which served a good buffet breakfast and very nice lunch and dinner. We also ate in the Italian which was very nice. Food was relatively expensive but I guess that comes with the big brand hotels. Rooms were large and very clean but a little bit old and dated - ready for a refresh but probably very good for Kathmandu. Location wise the hotel is great. It’s around 20mins from the centre of Kathmandu but 10mins easy walk to Boudhanath Stupa which is really stunning. The kids loved wandering the little streets surrounding it and there are some good restaurants in the area. Service was variable - we had some helpful people (the guys at the front door we’re great negotiating taxi fares in advance with all the taxi drivers) but there seemed to be a general lack of understanding and pro activity (a high chair would take 10mins each meal time despite staff standing around chatting). Saying that I would still recommend for a family stay.

I had a pleasant stay with my son. He daily goes to the gym and does his workout either in the morning or evening. Food was good but would have more Asian food would have been better.

Post-trek relaxation

Posted Jan 4, 2018
We booked two nights at Hyatt Regency KTM to celebrate completing our trek to EBC after also spending 4 days in Thamel. The hotel was a welcomed break to the chaos, sounds and smells of Thamel. As soon as we arrived we were relaxed. We were checked into our room early which was much appreciated. The staff were amazing and we were so impressed with the quality of service. The pool area was lovely. We dined in the Rox Restaurant and it was incredible. Unfortunately the tv and kettle did not work in our room, we asked for these to be looked at but this never happened. This would be my only complaint. Otherwise our stay was so enjoyable and we would definitely be back.

Lots of upcharges after

Posted Nov 21, 2017 on Hotels
I felt stressed staying here. They would offer free airport transportation then charge me for it. I was told eating at happy hour was included then told I needed to pay after eating. I did not receive my wake up call as ordered. I was told I had to arrange my own taxi service only to see that the hotel taxi service was at the airport picking up other guests.

Lovely hotel near Boudanath Stupa

Posted Nov 13, 2017
Pros: The decor, elegant entrance/lobby, large beautiful gardens, terrace cafe overlooking the garden, pool, friendly staff, proximity to Bouda stupa
Cons: Place is great overall but need to make better coffee! Also need to have stamps for postcards at desk. The airport shuttle should be free.
Location: 15 min walk to Boudanath Stupa, a UNESCO world heritage site. Lots of shops & restaurants surrounding the stupa which attracts many visitors.
This hotel has more style & character than one would normally expect from a Hyatt. There are fountains, extensive manicured gardens, sculptures & at night a candle-lit entrance. Staff are well trained, very friendly, helpful & polite. Wonderful pool. Good travel agency in lobby. Place feels calm, clean & peaceful which is an achievement in chaotic, dusty Kathmandu. Walking distance to Boudanath Stupa, a UNESCO world heritage site. Easy to get to & from airport. Only downside arguably is that its not central, its several miles from Thamel & Central Kathmandu. Normally I want to be downtown but in this case I was glad I wasn't. Loved this hotel & would be happy to go back.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. Your positive comments about the lobby, room , associates and the stay overall is very encouraging. The hotel is fortunate to be located in such close proximity to the UNESCO heritage site of Boudhanath Stupa as it makes travel for our guests to explore Kathmandu more accessible. I do understand your concern looking to venture down town, and for this, we do offer complimentary shuttle service to major points in town six times a day. We look forward to your return visit in the not too distant future and hope Hyatt Regency Kathmandu remains your preferred hotel on all your future visits.
