Good enough but not excellent

Posted Oct 29, 2017
We paid $229 for one night in a tiny room (bathroom in the hallway), we expected more comfort and professionalism from the staff. Although the staff was friendly and nice, they treated as we were youth hostel guests. This hotel isn’t worth the money although the premises are nice and cozy.

I am so sorry we did not give you the excellent stay that we want provide all of guests. We strive to always to exceed expectations, and we never want to disappoint. Regarding our less than formal atmosphere, our goal is to provide both a feeling of being at home and this, it seems like, can be communicated in an informal way. Honestly, there is a feeling of our guests being like family, and therefore, for some guests, we fail to correctly balance this and this, and it is received as too familiar. I will work on this, personally, and with the staff, since we are dedicated to finding this balance in a way that all guests are satisfied. We will continue to be exceedingly welcoming, but we will work to be not quite so casual when a guest seems to prefer this. We would love to you to stay with us again in the future, and give us an opportunity to move from "good enough" to "excellent"! You should select one of our other rooms, as Redcloud is our smallest room. Luckily, it is the only room without an en suite restroom, so we have many other options for your next stay. I am sure you will have a five star stay if you allow us to welcome you again! Again, thank you for sharing and travel safely and happily. Carly S. General Manager

Thank you so much, William, for your review, and we are so looking forward to your future visits! Be sure to book far enough ahead that you get your choice of guestrooms. Huron is a great one, with the huge double jet tub, but each of our other rooms provide there own special something. We will look out for you for future reservations, and never hesitate to contact us with questions! Carly S. General Manager

Mike, It is so nice to see you had an "amazing" time with us. This is the response we hope all of our guests have to the Briar Rose experience. As an unusual property providing full service guest care, we expect most to be a bit surprised by our level service. Please stay with us again, soon, and bring your friends and loved ones! As you know we offer not just a family friendly environment, but also one of peace and relaxation. We look forward seeing next time you are in Boulder! Carly St

Charming taste of home on the road

Posted Apr 14, 2017 on Hotels
I loved this little B&B! The room was a little smaller than anticipated and smelled vaguely funny--but likely the effect of an older house. The location was nice--very local to the colleges in Boulder. I went running in the early morning, and there were plenty of sidewalks and quiet roads to be on. The service was delightful--very much like staying in someone's house. The B&B itself was nicely decorated--not kitschy at all--and very clean. My bathroom, in particular, was nicely fitted out and updated despite the older building itself. The carriage house next to the house is a zen studio and the yard is absolutely lovely (with a high privacy fence to give it some pleasant seclusion). The breakfast was amazing--I sat in the sun room and was served fresh-made organic banana waffles with raspberry compote on top (I asked them to hold the whipped cream!). Mmmm! I slept well, and my particular room had an outside door, which was handy for my morning run. I used the wi-fi, but the house had a few computers and a printer available for use. There weren't many people staying when I was there, so things were quiet. As to be expected in an older house, there were creaks, and some of the sounds of the pipes carried more clearly than in a hotel--but that didn't bother me at all. If you want to be well-cared for in a very "homey" and comfortable environment, this is the place. I would definitely go again.

Great B&B. Everything is done well

Posted Apr 3, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Staff, comfort, breakfast
Cons: While every thing was done well, when taxes and fees were added to the discounted room rate, the overall package was a bit overpriced
Great B&B. Everything is done well and the customer service/helpfulness of the staff was great. I would definitely go back there. Above average breakfast, comfy room, well placed compared to the center of Boulder

Thank you for your kind review. Boulder is a reallygreat city both to visit and live in but sales and accommodations taxes are very high, a whopping 12%, so it does add up. Thanks for staying we look forward to your next visit!

Quaint B&B

Posted Mar 19, 2017 on Hotels
If you like bed and breakfasts, Briar Rose is a nice little gem in the heart of Boulder. Tea lovers will be in heaven! Tea service all day. As a coffee lover, they serve breakfast only. I'm sure they'd would have made me a pot if I asked later in the day, but it wasn't out for the taking like most hotels and B&Bs. Rooms were small but well equipped. Certainly not modern but clean and well kept.

Sorry we didn't tell you specifically, but we serve fresh ground french press coffee all day as well as the teas. But hopefully you enjoyed trying the teas and thanks for the great review. Hope you come visit again!
