Gold Hill Greenhouse and Yurt

Boulder apartment in Gold Hill with kitchen
This unique greenhouse yurt combo sits atop a mountain in Gold Hill, an old gold mining town at 8,300 ft. ten miles west of Boulder.

Enjoy this 3 acre property with a 2,800 passive solar greenhouse and yurt! The full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry are in the greenhouse. The greenhouse is a short walk from the yurt that is perched on top of the mountain. The yurt is fenced in with about a half an acre.

***The greenhouse is in production for growing food for the surrounding community! This means that me as well as others will need access to the greenhouse to check on plants, harvest, climate control, etc. This will only be done during the day. Open greenhouse hours are noon-3pm!***

Please do NOT pick from the gardens. I will leave produce for you to enjoy in the refrigerator :)

The caretaker and co-host, Volta, lives part time on the property. She will not be sharing any facilities or space with you during your stay! Her spot is on the other side of the greenhouse. Feel free to ask her any questions if you see her!

Well behaved pets are welcome!

Open space surrounds the property with easy access to hiking trails and the quaint downtown of Gold Hill. There is a trail from the yurt that leads directly to town.

Please no fires during your stay.

Please keep all trash inside of the greenhouse to prevent frequent bear and mice visits!

Hidden Gem
We loved the yurt and location! Nestled away a few minutes from the amazing historic Gold Hill. We planned to stay in city limits of Boulder but this was even better for peace and quiet and Boulder was still very close. Hiking was close and beautiful views. Can't wait to come back!

Our stay in the yurt was perfect! A peaceful retreat to relax and enjoy away from distractions, the town of Gold Hill was a delightful surprise! We loved our time tucked away in the mountains with many hiking options and peaceful starry nights!

It sure was a mountain get-a-way
We would go back again. It was wonderful and Shelby was very accommodating. The location is on top of a beautiful mountain accessed by a dirt road. There seemed to be two roads you could take to get there. Lick Skillet Road is steep and would be best for bigger vehicles. My Kia Rio made it but Gold Hill Road is a much better road to drive for those without a mountain vehicle. My Google Maps kept wanting me to take Lick Skillet Road. The yurt was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was a TV and fridge but nothing else. (The internet could be spotty with the TV and my computer seemed to work better with it than the TV). Everything else you would really need is in the greenhouse. It is beautiful there! Just be prepared...the elevation can mess with flatlanders. The short hike from the greenhouse to the yurt is kind of steep and for me, required stopping to rest. My husband was fine with it.
