Paid much / expected much

I made a last minute reservation for a family event to stay at the same hotel as my daughter and her family. I had always had good experiences at Marriott properties, so even though it cost more than I usually pay, I thought it would be nice. The staff was very kind at check in. My room was cold and did not look updated. The bed was clean but the mattress hard. The alarm clock was the wrong time (one hour early) but thankfully I set my alarm on my phone so I wasn't late for an event in the morning. When I took my shower, I noticed the tiles were covered with soap scan and the grout was dark brown in several places. In the morning I came to find out that I had the complimentary breakfast and internet access but she and her family of four did not have either. Of course four of our party of five was covered by my complimentary card for breakfast but then my son in law was charged an excessive price for his meal. They also did not have free WiFi which I have assumed was included and in my experience, has always been even in economy hotels. Overall, I felt that for a more expensive hotel catering to business and tourist clientele, not having the same services and meals for both rooms even though we booked through Orbitz seemed nickel and dime quality. Then to have the room be disappointing and frankly unprepared and unclean causes me to say I will not recommend this hotel and will not stay there again.
