Commodore hotel Bournemouth

Posted Jul 3, 2017 on Hotels
It was a nice place, Sunday lunch was good, staff were in general very nice, No fruit salad or yoghurt despite being advertised on both our breakfast mornings, toaster always on high therefore burnt results, as a result a breakfast discount was offered and accepted. The shower had to be full on to be hot, if flow was reduced water got considerably cooler, not everyone wants a hard hot shower and not everyone wants a cold (cool) soft shower, but there seemed little in between. Place was clean and tidy with a nice view of the sea from our room. Would stay again but would have to ask questions before booking.

Great Weekend at the Commodore

Posted Jun 5, 2017 on Hotels
Had a 2 night stay to visit some friends and family in the area. We arrived late at 9pm after a long journey, the chap operating reception (at the main bar) directed us to local places to eat but then managed to get the kitchen to stay open for us. This above and beyond service was typical of our stay where we were made to feel welcome by the friendly staff. I've ate here before but never stayed there, the bar/restaurant area has had an upgrade the photos shown on the website doesn't do it justice and the meals were better than I remember too (indeed, my fish and chips were much better than my meal in the Fisherman's Haunt the following night.) The room was the corner one overlooking the beach and the garden area to the side (Fishermans Walk), perfect views couldn't ask for a better location. The room is your usual curious older type with the toilet separate from the basin, and it took us a minute to find the shower behind the door! Room came with a hairdryer, proper iron and board. It was clean and well presented. We didn't get a good night sleep but that wasn't the fault of the room. Wifi hit and miss but good 4G available. The breakfast room was well equipped, a few niggles with missing plates and juice but all got resolved by enthusiastic staff. Cooked breakfast was excellent. However the main reason for staying here is the location, right on top of the beach with several other pubs and restaurants walking distance. For a couples escape it's perfect.

We arrived at 10pm on Friday. Staff was very friendly. My little boy wanted some fruits. The staff brought him a bowl of apples and oranges for free. I brought a glass of wine to our room and it was a very nice glass of wine. Next day cooked breakfast was lovely. My mum enjoyed very much and same as my little boy.

Very pleasant stay, good facilities, across the road from the beach. Great staff, very friendly. Good selection of food in the bar which was good value for money. Would recommend.
