I was not pleased that the bathroom had a huge window which was not frosted and had no blinds (only a net curtain). It faced the station and the toilet was positioned right in front of the window.

Great hotel

Posted Apr 10, 2018
Pros: It's not a boring 'corporate ' faceless place!
Cons: Would be good if the windows could be opened slightly! Also, might be nice to have fruit in reception for guests.
Location: Opposite the Interchange, so busses and trains are on the doorstep.....to some fabulous places!
This hotel is full of character. We found the staff friendly, but not intrusive, very professional , helpful and welcoming!

Great location.

Posted Mar 29, 2018
Pros: The location is great and the place has character too.
Cons: Chance to open a window for fresh air in the rooms.
Most staff were extremely welcoming, through yet again one let the team down by little if any eye contact, no conversation and no smile.......hardly acceptable for front of house staff! Apart for the non welcome, everyone else was brilliant.......professional, kind, helpful, smiling, and friendly.

second visit here was very disappointing.

Posted Mar 29, 2018
Pros: it looks pretty when you walk in
Cons: customer service, and make sure everything works as it should in the rooms.
Location: The Mirror Pool and fountains are quite pretty at night.
The hotel had issues that they didn't want to deal with. I booked two rooms, neither had working TVs, one didn't even have a remote for it, the main light in one room didn't work, and the other one had a lot of dirt and insects in the lamp shade. One room had a toilet door that wouldn't shut properly, the other had no coffee sachets in the drinks area. When I mentioned the issues the first time, I was told that the duty manager would be informed. When I enquired later about what he'd said, no answer was given as he'd been too busy. The next morning I asked again, and informed the receptionist that there had been no coffee in the room, and was told to email the manager, and that I could have asked for coffee, but there had not been a phone in the room (when one was listed on the room description) My impression was that no-one at the hotel cared about the poor facilities, or had any idea of how to deal with a customer's complaints. No remedy for any of the issues was offered, and no money off or complimentary drinks were offered. The irony is that I booked this hotel because I had been there 6 months previously and had been really impressed by the place and staff. I can only assume a change in management has happened, to the hotel's detriment.

We was put in room 115, which had an adjoining door, unfortumstely you could hear the other guest quiet clearly on his phone. The receptionist that day needed to smile I asked what time we could check in, I knew by the look on her face she was not going out of her way, shame really we like the hotel

The Great Victoria Hotel, Bradford

Posted Mar 23, 2018
Pros: The star qualities of the hotel are its decor, heritage, staff and location.
Cons: A larger range of toiletries might lift the experience a little
Location: Great location, amazing convenience in terms of parking. If you are in Bradford then you absolutely have to take in some curry.
This hotel is the only show in town in Bradford. It has a majestic frontage and wears its heritage well. The hotel is ideally situated being right in the heart of the city and literally seconds away from the main train station. The rooms are themselves modern, large and very comfortable. The best rooms are on the 4th floor where the hotel steps up to metropolitan boutique charm. The hotel is extremely good value and breakfast hits the spot on quantity and quality. Ideal for business or romance as the do a roaring trade in business conferences and weddings which always seemed to be slick. The hotel has spent a fortune on bringing the hotel right up to par with superb box fresh flatscreen TVs. The restaurant menu has had a make over and the food is fresh, full of flavour and good value. I stayed in the hotel for many weeks on a business trip and have to say the real stars are the staff. They are well drilled for all needs: efficient, attentive and polite. They are always on their game. Special mention has to go to the reservations manager - class act. I burdened her with all sorts of booking complications and she did not even break sweat.

Good location and breakfast

Posted Mar 16, 2018
The main negative was that the windows were nailed shut, due to health and safety, we were told. We really like treasury air when we sleep so were disappointed with this. The location is very good in the centre of town and the breakfast was good. Our room was ok but could have done with some refurbishment. It's a lovely old hotel but a bit tired.

Had a 4th floor room And the lift only reached the 3rd floor, we had booked the(only restaurant, though only the night before the web site had said there was 2 and a pre theatre meal deal , neither of which was actually correct !!! So orderd our food after changing our reservation to 5.30 to give us time to enjoy the meal. Well after three quarters of a hour we had to go ask where our food was , there was only us in the restaurant. Anyways 2 staff appeared with the two mains , open lasagne that was stone cold and chicken supreme, which I shared with my friend so she didn’t actually pass out from hungry , with traveling we had missed lunch , yep chicken was good ! We had order a portion of twice cooked chunky chips to share , we had both eaten most of our half chicken breast when a portion of fries arrived, being now informed there was no chips :0( We were asked to ireder desert to save time , ( non ) sticky toffee ( no sauce ) and ice cream and a pina cotta ( maybe spelt wrong ) but doesn’t matter because I can hosetly say tasted like warm yogurt, I chose not to eat that in case of food poisoning.... on serious hindsight I wish we’d complained more , we refused to pay for ( MacDonalds) fries , but meal still cast £57 with a £23 bottle of prosecco. Yes staff told us chef was busy with a wedding and a 3 course tribute meal but if we’d know before we would have joined other friends that had eaten at Witherspoon’s.... £30 streak meals for 2 includeing a bottle of rose!

Room half finished

Posted Mar 16, 2018
I stayed here for 1 night for work. Room was dated, one wall had plaster on it and had not been painted. T.v was mounted on the wall next to the bed so you could not see the t.v. On arrival to the hotel. I told the lady at reception i was parked directly outside of the hotel was this ok? She said it was fine. Came back from work with a parking ticket. Thanks!!

Night out in Bradford

Posted Mar 13, 2018
We went to Bradford overnight for a short break, to watch a film at the IMAX, go for a curry and see the exhibits at the Media Museum the next day. The hotel was perfectly placed for all city centre attractions. The rooms was lovely and comfortable, breakfast was good with plenty of choice and both reception staff and staff at breakfast were friendly, lovely and helpful. The hotel car parking was fantastically convenient. A great stay; thank you
