Very beautiful grounds. Bedroom was beautiful and bathroom. We did notice a funny smell of paint but apart from that it was one of the best stays we’ve ever had in a hotel!

We thoroughly relaxed in a picturesque room (34) which had outstanding views from its 4 windows. Beds were extremely comfortable and all amenities were of top quality

Fabulous stay
We loved our 2 night stay here. The room and en-suite was of good size, very clean and very comfortable. The staff were particularly polite and friendly, which was lovely, as there's usually one grumpy one! We had 1 dinner and 2 breakfasts. Food tasty and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Targeted at polar Bears
COLD! I can’t believe that the heating in room was only turned on at 6.45pm, so I had to sit in a coat before that. Then it went off at 9pm, so by 10 I had to go to bed just to keep warm! Mornings no heat until 6.30 also Ridiculous and missing the point of Customer Service Otherwise very nice hotel I won’t return!

A predominantly old building with plenty of history and a beautiful location. Staff are friendly and personable. Dining menu is unusual, with the accent on ready-to-cook items requiring little culinary creativity. That said dinner was very acceptable, as was breakfast, especially when a cook-to-order breakfast policy is adopted. The hotel's energy-saving policy means that early check-ins will experience cold rooms until about 6.30pm.
