We were disappointed because the floor had a dead insect indicating it had not been vacuumed- the room would not cool off despite lowering the temp, the ice machine had specs of dirt in the ice when it came out.

Hotel was a basic hotel, some rooms are inside, some enter from outside. The rooms are spacious and get very cool, which I loved! However, the staff was far from efficient. Our room wasn't cleaned the first day, and only partially the second. Only 1 of 4 maids arrived to work, so the rooms didn't get cleaned. Had to go to the desk after calling and waiting for toilet paper to be replaced. Desk workers slept behind the desk. Roaches around the breakfast food. Breakfast and coffee not always out and ready at said time. Had to wake the desk clerk up to ask for it. Comfortable room. Very poorly staffed hotel.

Great Service

Pros: front desk , was very clean, pool was clean
Cons: the coffee in the am, but is its not starbucks quality I will never be happy :-)
Location: close to the highway , easy to get to , great pizza place next door , very inexpensive, family owned and yes there is a Starbucks very close!
The guy running the front desk was awesome. We forgot toothpaste , called down , they didn't have any , not their fault most hotels of this size stopped that practice years ago. I was o n my way out to but some and here he is walking to my room, he scrounged around and found some. Next AM we to get to the nice free breakfast with about 10mins to go , of course he is cleaning up, I understand , our bad for getting there late, he accommodates us with a few items that he has already put away and then checks in to see if we need anything else at all. Wish I could recall his name , excellent !

Will not be staying here again

The staff is friendly but I would not recommend this place. There were roaches, the bathtub was clogged, the pool was dirty and there were no curtains so the sunlight went directly in. The night was so uncomfortable because you can't tell if someone can see from the outside due to the no curtains. There is a charge for late checkout but by that time we had already seen 4 roaches and were ready to leave. So very disappointing and ruined part of our vacation. Needless to say, we will not be staying here again.

Average in all aspects.

It was overall....average...nothing great...nothing too bad...just average. Older hotel, got a good price, so I booked it. Looks to be a family owned franchise, none of the workers had name tags, just normal jeans and shirts, etc. Hard to identify who worked there. Breakfast is average, at best, if all you like is carbs. I am usually in Brenham once a year for baseball, probably will stay elsewhere next time.

Location: Close to many stores and restaurants.
It was a very good hotel for the price and the staff were very nice. Unfortunately the sauna was broken and the vending machine didn't work. (it took my money). But stuff like that happens sometimes. It was a comfortable place to stay even though the bed looked like it had just been slept in and then made in a hurry. But the bathroom was spotless and that counts for a lot with me... They didn't have the little plastic laundry bag, but the rest of the amenities and toiletries were very sufficient. The breakfast area was neat and clean with a great view of the tv for all to see. The breakfast was scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon. Packaged oatmeal, cereals, toast ,muffins, bagels and a few other things. The juice machine didn't work but they had a nice little fridge that had milk, apple juice and orange juice. Coffee was good too! They had an automatic pancake maker where you just push a button and place your plate there for it to fall into, which I thought was cool. All and all, I would definitely stay there again.

A Night at Palace Inn

Pulled up late at night, took less than 5 minutes to get checked in and got our key, staff was very friendly. Found our room and it was bigger than our hotel from our honeymoon. Everything was clean. The bed was really comfortable but we couldn't sleep very much because the a/c did not cool the room off very well. My husband put it as low as it goes and still was super hot. Went to breakfast and like another review said about this hotel, "it's not great but something to fill you up and get you on the road." My personal comments on the breakfast were this: The syrup tastes off and I couldn't eat more than 2 bites. The muffins were dried out. The bacon and sausage were "meh". Cereal was good because the milk was super cold. All in all it wasn't a horrible experience but after driving 5 hrs and then going to drive 5 hrs the next morning I would have liked to have had better rest. I would still recommend it but bring your own favorite cereal and a fan.

My family really enjoyed our stay at the Palace Inn. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and staff very attentive. I highly recommend a stay at their hotel.
