Close to Port but needs bulldozing

Posted Dec 1, 2016
Very old and in poor condition. We got what we paid for. Will never pay less than $150 o/night again. Only saving grace was being walking distance to cafes and restaurants.

Nice hotel for short stay - close to Portside Whar

Posted Nov 20, 2016
Pros: Free parking, clean room, lovely staff.
Cons: Air conditioner needed to be serviced and cleaned (made clunky noises the whole time and when I went to check, there was built up mildew/mould).
Location: Located only a 5-10 minute walk from Portside Wharf and the Cruise Ship Terminal. Great location.
I checked into Airport Hacienda after speaking to the lovely receptionist on the phone to confirm that they are open at all hours. Late check in is after 9.30, so it was nice to know that they don't have limited hours. I checked in and the lady at reception was lovely and accommodating. They had taken all of my requests on board, giving me a quiet room away from the road and making sure I wouldn't be annoyed being near a set of stairs. You do have to climb up stairs for some of the rooms, so if you have lots of luggage, I suggest getting a room on the lower floors. All in all, the room was clean, the bed (although quite firm), was made up with nice linen. There was a nice balcony, although no chairs to sit on. The pool, although I didn't use it, looked nice and clean, and the free parking was a bonus. One thing that was a bit off was the air conditioner, which looked like it hadn't been serviced or cleaned in about 10 years. The shower head was also loose, which made it difficult when adjusting it to my preferred height.

Coathangers used to support shower head in rooms

Posted Oct 13, 2016
Though the service at the front desk was great and check in is 24 hours it was disheartening to have a room that the shower head was fixed in place by a coat hanger with freezing water coming out one minute to boiling hot the next and a balcony door that had major gaps in the framework and curtains that were not even hung properly on the curtain rail. Good location to the Airport. Quality of the rooms and bed is poor as you can tell the beds are old from the springs digging into my back and was unable to sleep due to this. Only recommend it if desperate for a room close to the airport

An Overnighter

Posted Sep 11, 2016
Pros: A couple of restaurants and small supermarket are within 5 mins walk
Cons: Maybe remove "Best Western" off advertising - we were later told it is not a BW and the shuttle went to wrong hotel!
We chose this hotel based on price (it was cheap) and closeness to the rental car company. We were there only overnight. We had option of upstairs or down - in hindsight we maybe should have gone upstairs but did not want to lug the bags up the stairs! Our downstairs room was tucked back under the main building - and so was dark and dungeon like. But I guess - you really do get what you pay for so we should not be too critical :-)

Nice room, but not clean at all.

Posted Aug 7, 2016
Pros: Staff on arrival were friendly and helpful
Cons: Sack the cleaners and start again!
Location: Good location, not too noisy.
Nice room, but room was filthy - coffee rings on bench, used soap & hair in shower, toilet paper in the toilet, dirty floors in the bathroom - only clean things was the sheets. Staff on arrival were friendly, but on departure disinterested. Would not recommend.

handy to airport and eating places

Posted Jun 2, 2016
Pros: Proximity
Cons: Maintenance
Location: Cafes and Restaurants were within walking distance and the Thai Restaurant, where we went for dinner, was exceptional. Only 10 mins max walk.
Hotel information mentioned complimentary biscuits...... These were few and in one of our booked rooms there were not any at all. Plenty of Tea and Coffee, etc but two slots for biscuits and only one packet..... Most people have traveled a distance to get to the Hotel and a biscuit with your tea, or coffee, is very welcome. Our bed was comfortable but our friends couldn't sleep well as the bed was 'lumpy'. Couldn't get the shower gel to work, but had our own so that wasn't an issue for us. Doorstop in one of the draws - as had not been repaired after someone prior to us had broken it. Net curtaining in need of a wash. Perhaps a little more care with maintenance.

Good value, clean, great location.

Posted Apr 22, 2016
Pros: Comfort, location, cleanliness, value for money.
Location: Very close to Brett's Wharf with easy access to the CBD by ferry. Eat Street markets close by. Handy to airport. Some nice restaurants 2 blocks away.
Excellent staff at the front desk, thanks for your helpful, friendly attitude. The room was simple but super clean and comfortable. We expected loud noise from the road but it was very quiet. The pool looked lovely though we didn't have time to enjoy it. We were able to easily walk in 10 mins with baby to Brett's Wharf and take a ferry into the city for the afternoon. Such a great way to get into the city and the boats go very frequently. Close to the airport too. The place is a bit dated but very clean and comfortable and not in any way creepy. Just true to the 'Mexican Hacienda' vibe they have going on. Very good value for money.
