Hotel in good position

Posted Aug 1, 2015
Pros: Watching passing traffic through the large window, food, and central location.
Cons: Firmer pillows
Location: Easy walks to City Hall, Casino, Brisbane Eye, South Bank, Cultural Centre, Museum. 7/11,newsagent, Pie Face, pubs nearby. The Law Courts also nearby.
My brother was receiving a Bravery Award to be presented by the Lord Mayor of Brisbane at City Hall which was a 2 minute walk from the G W Hotel. We found it very central for what we had to do on the day. We were able access our room early to get changed which was great. Traffic noise was unnoticeable, food was great. Getting into the car park was tight ( we drove an 80 series landcruiser ) but it can be done.

Not worth the money

Posted Jul 15, 2012
Pros: None
Cons: Small rooms, worn out feel
Location: Bit seedy
For the price I expected better-n this is an old hotel with small rooms, owned by the YMCA- it has a touch of the institutional feel about it. Clean but somewhat depressing.

Pros: Location
Cons: Service and comfort
Location: Optimal within walking distance of shops, restaurants and touristy areas.
Very samll room and very basic service, not a 3 star hotel, much kess a 3 1/2 star. You need to update your rating. Hotwire's rating is closer to reality. We had to ask for bath towels. Hotel gave us 1 towel for two people. After da date full of activitties, we wanted to eat but restaurant not open until 5:30 pm. We ended up going elsewhere. This is 2 star hotel at most.

Relaxed Stay

Posted Mar 28, 2012
Pros: convenience of location
Cons: reception, that is first impression. needs more staff
very pleased with our room. while we were only there 1 night, it was a pleasant sleep. only 1 thing i think that needs to change would be more reception staff. trying to get help from reception was like drawing teeth out .

Good hotel

It's not glamourous, but it's a clean, decent hotel in a fairly good location - close to the train and the Queens St Mall.

Happy with stay

Posted Aug 31, 2005
Stayed at the George Williams in late August (hotel also contains a "YMCA"). The hotel had made a mistake with my arrival date in their records, but was quickly was able to correct the situation, upgrading us from a standard room to a a balcony room. Room was nice, spacious. Location is about one block away from the train station which was handy. Price was reasonable.
