Good value for money and close to shopping centre

Posted Jan 15, 2017
Was in a good position. Book in was less than impressive with not so friendly receptionist. Room was not serviced for the three nights that we stayed.

Surprisingly peaceful

Posted Nov 6, 2016
Pros: Modern, clean room and very quiet despite location
Cons: Credit card hold return policy, reception staff & the banging of the doors in the morning
Location: Walking distance to the PA hospital, a small shopping centre & several train stations, making Southbank and the city centre easily accessible.
Room was nice & modern, comfortable and very quiet considering it was on the ground floor next to a busy road (although the heavy doors bang in the morning) Great value for money. The only things that could be improved on is their policy of putting a credit card hold for $150 - well not so much that as it's reasonable, but that it takes 3 x business days to be released. Also, the room service menu was a bit lacking & the reception staff seemed a bit young & lacking in genuine customer service (although I might have caught them on a bad day). But otherwise a nice, well located & quiet hotel.

Hi Carrie, So pleased you found Hotel Chino to be modern, clean & quiet in a great location and good value for money - all very important criteria. In terms of the pre-authoriation - we cancel all pre-auth's after each guest departs. Different banks have different timelines for lifting the holds - it is not us - we are very diligent in processing the cancellations. It's a shame it reflects on us. Our menus are undergoing a change at present and we take on board your comments re the room service menu. We apologize sincerely that our receptionist seemed quiet - we pride ourselves on our customer service and we will ensure more training to our trainee. We hope you return to our "nice, well located quiet hotel" - maybe in 2017.

Basic hotel rooms are extremely small and only have a double bed. The studios are fabulous, spacious with very comfortable beds and definitely worth the extra money. Convenient location, free parking. very nice and helpful reception staff. Would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your review. You seem to know our property well - we love our return guests. You are correct about the compact hotel rooms being exactly that - compact. However they are only really intended for an overnight stay. The larger rooms are priced to be just a little extra cost and they are definitely worth it. Make sure you have dinner in Chinos next visit - Alex is making delicious food and the boutique tap beers are icy cold. We'll even shout you one next visit. Cheers!

Good hotel need good staff

One of the most unhelpful staff I ever met. They don't care if I stay there or not .they are happy to loose a customer.

Posted Sep 15, 2015
One of the staff members (Man) with purple hair )was so rude when we asked for an extra blanket, saying there is already 2 and trying to excuse us of having more people, no I just wanted another blanket and that's just the start check out he was very rude saying we had noise complaints one night and that night none of us even stayed there then at the end of the argument he goes oh must have been the other room not accepted you need awake up call, do not recommend staying here

This will not happen again - Hotel Chino is under NEW MANAGEMENT and daily service is NOW included. We only have a few of these compact overnight rooms - please select our spacious queen studio for a much better experience with only a small additional outlay.

Nice Hotel close to the CIty

Posted Aug 9, 2015
Pros: The rooms were pretty spacious with lots of room to more around and the kitchen was nice to use.
Location: Go to the City
Overall the hotel was quite nice but when we arrived at the hotel it was already closed. On our booking sheet it said that it was closing on Fridays at 10pm when actually it closed at 8pm.

not what i thought

Posted Aug 7, 2015
Pros: the room was very nice
Cons: maybe notify hotel guests if the restaurant will be closed, and maybe find out times of close by cafes.
Location: the location was rather dull, and theres not much to do in close proximity, but we did go to the norman hotel which was nice.
hotel staff weren't very friendly, the restaurant isn't open weekend nights but me and my partner were going to get breakfast one morning to find the restuarant closed due to 'lack of staff'. and they failed to tell us that earlier.the staff member sent us up the road to a cafe to find doesn't open Sundays, so had to get breakfast elsewhere.
