Friendly and helpful staff. The bed was very comfortable. Can't beat the $1 breakfast deal.

The porter and Concierge staff were very helpful and polite as were the staff at Reception. The wait staff in the restaurant (Terraces) not particularly helpful nor very polite otherwise the hotel was perfect in all respects. The hotel sits on the Brisbane river and Terraces has a wonderful covered outdoor area which is always a wonderful way to start your day. The hotel was very busy over the Easter period but Stanford Plaza always have sufficient staff to provide a great service to their guests.

Has the Stamford dropped behind?

Posted Apr 17, 2017
The iconic Stamford hasn't changed in the last 20 years with the exception of an ever present focus on Chinese culture and standard luxuries like parking that once applied to guests who are paying top dollar per room are now billed out as an extra service, which comes as a shock to most when the final bill hits. Some of the cultural differences evident was a simple example of your in room viewing pleasure being tailored towards Chinese channeling and a user pays approach for what should be standard Foxtel movies. If you are into all manner of Chinese channels then you are set. Other than that it's standard channels , Fox News and maybe discovery channel. If you purchase the breakfast package be prepared for convotherm cooking at its finest with most products being pushed through the convotherm oven on steam and dry for that freshly broiled product, that should be grilled, sautéed or scrambled in butter. I don't think I have seen the pan cake machine operate properly and don't dare expect a table complete with cutlery or milk jugs replaced after diners have left. Coffee as in the good stuff is extra and as food runs out diners are left with a puzzled look of is that it for $40 per head and who do we ask for a replenishment. Complimentary drinks considering the cost on rooms parking and food one would hope a southern comfort and coke was well in order. But alas no, it's beer or cheap stuff. Rooms are old and dirty just look under your TV cabinet. well due for improvements v $

Ho hum hotel

Posted Apr 17, 2017
Pros: Nice location.
Looks pretty flash in the photos but all that glitters is not gold. Cobwebs in the bathroom, bathroom door latch broken. And that's without mentioning the pretentious staff member at reception! Had daughter with us and room felt crowded with the roll away bed in there.

Disappointing stay at Stamford Brisbane

Posted Apr 16, 2017
Pros: Buffet breakfast was excellent.
Cons: Not sure if all rooms are as tired as ours was but the whole facility looks a bit old and outdated.
Location: Located directly on the riverfront within easy walk to river ferries and also next to the Botanical Gardens if you prefer an early morning stroll.
Room was only on the 4th floor of a 21 level hotel right outside of pool area. Although there was no noise from patrons using the pool you had to close the drapes to prevent people looking directly in at you.Room condition was very average at best with some broken tiles and blistering paintwork.TV had a damaged screen. Really needs a good revamp! Thought we might have got free Wi Fi considering the price we paid for the room. On checkout we had to take lift to top floor as we waited on six lifts heading down which were all full. All in all would stay somewhere else in Brizzie CBD next time.

Convenient CBD location with view of the River

Posted Apr 10, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Update the decor - time for a refurb
Location: Parliament House, CBD, QUT, Botanic Gardens, Eagle Street Pier, great river front restaurants
Convenient CBD location with view of the River, close to Botanic Gardens, Eagle Street Pier and CBD. Overall, hotel decor and mood feels a bit tired. Rooms clean and pleasant, but outdated. Room service phone staff difficult to understand, room service delivery staff grumpy and unhelpful. Front desk staff and concierge helpful and efficient.

Pros: The views of the brisbane river. The close proximity to some great restaurants.
We were greeted by the valet parking man who was very helpful, unpacked our vehicle & onto trolley, directed us to reception & was at our room as we got to it.

Bridal Party Stay

Posted Mar 29, 2017
We stayed here the night before our best friend's wedding. The hotel itself is fitted out in very traditional decor. It is quite lovely on the eye, although there is a musty smell when first entering the foyer. Staff were exceptional at handling our requests, especially the concierge team on the afternoon leading up to us leaving for the actual wedding ceremony. The bride (who was staying in another room) was disappointed that room service was limited after 10pm, since she got back from setting up the reception venue very late the night before the wedding and was starving for some real food. Being in the heart of Brisbane city meant she could easily step out for some food, but it was not her preference to do so. Also, having stayed at other 4/5 star hotels, I was surprised that the movies-on-demand service charged between $15 and $19 per movie, when other hotels offer it as a standard inclusion with the room you book. Netflix costs $15 per month and offers far greater variety by comparison - so we reactivated my dormant account for our evening's entertainment. Definitely a classy old-fashioned hotel for an overnight stay in Brisbane.
