I could not use the shower as the bathroom had strong sewer type odour every time I opened the door. Tap on hand basin almost came off in my hand. Room too warm and no obvious way to control heating, courtyard dining area very cold for breakfast.

It took 45 minutes going around through road works to enter. No warning. Workmen machinery noise on the street jut outside window equals sleepless night.

Horrible area, tatty building. Asked for a quiet room on booking and arrival and were loudly entertained all night by traffic and wedding guests. Strong stench of sewage in the very tired room from a clearly faulty toilet so we had to leave the bathroom window wide open all night. Ear plugs just about made the noise manageable, although we did have to fight over a double quilt on a super king bed. The coffee at breakfast tasted like dishwater. No sign of any fruit. If had paid £50 for this room I wouldn’t have minded, but this whole disappointing experience set me back £150. General staff were lovely. Manager had a fixed smile which said that she heard complaints like mine every single day and she really was not interested. Shame, what could be a beautiful building going to waste.

Liked proximity to family. Excellent, friendly staff. Disliked inconsideration of other guests who returned in the early hours, banging doors etc. But not the fault of the hotel. Bathroom needs a facelift though, bit tired and damaged but was clean enough.

We really enjoyed our stay and had a lovely room. We had a good experience checking in, the reception staff were very helpful. We booked an executive room and it didnt disappoint. Very large comfortable bed, sofa large television and tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was also well appointed even having a javuzzi bath which my wife took advantage of. Our only issue was with the breakfast. I went down at 8.45 as breakfast ended at 9.30. But when I went to select the cooked items I was not impressed. Fried eggs were dried and rubbery. No scrambled eggs. The sausages were few and those were laying in congealed fat. I was very disappointed. I did not go for breakfast on the second morning because of my experience. It was a shame because everything else in the hotel was good.

Lovely hotel, with the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. Some areas are really well presented like the bar area and restaurant, but other areas like the corridors could do with some TLC as they a bit dated, but to be expected with an old building I suppose. Very clean hotel in our experience. Breakfast was lovely, staff were friendly and eager to help. Excellent for the price we paid thats for sure. Would definately return.

Lovely hotel & staff, good location
All staff members were so helpful & friendly made such a difference to our stay, room was a good size & all clean, breakfast was good and our large dog was accommodated for. we shall be back.

Old character property, comfortable and decent stay. Nice bar area, even if the rooms and halls are very dated. Expected for an old manor hotel. The room was huge, heater didn't work at all though. Tv in a slightly odd place but made sense. All in all, just right for a work night stay.

I asked for a quiet room, but was given the room nearest the very busy main road, with traffic all night. Both the bedroom and bathroom radiators were not working. Reported to manager on first day, he did try to get them working but failed. He provided portal heaters but they could not be used in the bathroom which was cold for my three night stay. The bathroom window was unfrosted and looked out onto the main road. The blind was missing. Reported to the manager who had a blind installed next day. There were water leak marks on the ceiling.

Lovely rooms - spacious, comfortable, clean and warm. Reception staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately the breakfast choice was a little limited if vegetarian/vegan. An option of granola/museli would have been nice and decent bread would have made a big difference. However, overall good value and would stay again.

Pretty happy
I really liked my stay here. It was perfect for my work as it was close to it and other useful places. My room was massive, bed was comfy. I also discovered the history of the building and im sad to say i wasnt haunted. My only complaint is that the bath hadnt been cleaned properly and there was black mould on the grout but ill definitely come back.

Manor looks impressive from the outside. Plenty of parking and easy access to the city by bus. Large room although very tired and needs renovation. Floor in the bathroom was rotten and cracked. The bath with the shower over was useless. Tried to position the head and it fell off so the water could only hit the wall. Bed linen was clean with a large comfy bed although the head board was still stuck to the wall where 2 singles had been put together. Furniture very shabby. Nowhere to sit except one hard chair at a desk. Wardrobe was large and adequate. English breakfast buffet style was good. Could have had a better choice of yoghurts and fruit. Only a bowl of apples and natural yoghurt. Coffee machine had broken but provided pots to help yourself. A good stay but needs money spent on the rooms unless we were unlucky as we were facing the back yard.

Really helpful staff- I had hurt my knee and they brought us some ice for it which was very kind. Super friendly! Really appreciated the free parking as Bristol can be expensive. Great location.
